Adding onto @AboutTreeFiddy I don't believe she qualifies for Medicare or Medicaid, I'd have to look into the eligibility in Kentucky for Medicaid. I would hope the social security/disability structure in place would see her income and deny any and all applications from our gorl, but if DSP can get a bankruptcy rubber stamped, why can't Amber.
My guess from the start of this new insurance thing is she is applying to get on Jade's workplace insurance as a spouse/domestic partner, which would cost a lot to Jade. A lot of insurance now will just add someone on if they share an address. Another possibility is she "applied" through a pre authorization for surgery from this doctor through whatever insurance she has now. The pre auth would give more of an idea how much she'll owe on the surgery and aftercare.
Most likely is she is trying for a lower deductible/high premium ppo through the marketplace, they can approve or deny based on your income and if you're able to afford the premiums.
She makes far too much $ for medicaid and she would have to be on disability for a year to qualify for Medicare. Jade has to have lived in KY for a year (iirc) to be a permanent resident and then paperwork established for domestic partnership to be on her insurance.
You hit the nail on the head about Marketplace. She's not going to have a fun time and her insurance is still going to be high af because her income has been higher than most people the last few years.
I give a big X on her ever going through with surgery.
*edit*
For YT adsense in the US one has to use their SSN. The social security office has a list of all your jobs past and current. She can't get out of not reporting her income to get benefits. So to put that speculation to rest, the only way to grift the system is under the table cash/personal check in hand.
