"I'm not as bad as the people on MSHPL" is also just a giant cope. Amber is 500 pounds with a whole host of health issues that get worse by the day. At least a decent portion of the MSHPL people make ACTUAL EFFORT before and after surgery that shows they're committed to the lifestyle change, something Amber has failed to do for years and years. But you're better than them because you don't eat as much food at once? Sure.
Amber could never meet Dr Now's two month weightloss goal to be approved for surgery. Even when she loses weight, it is very slow weightloss. So no Amber your are NOT better than those on MSHPL. Not even close.
My prediction is she will come back in a few days with a brand new Jenny Craig or WW arc and we will continue with the same repetitive cycle of content while she continues to gain and lose the same 10-15 pounds.
She probably will, but that is stupid given she is still being seen by the dietician, the very person she needs to get approval from. She needs to go back to 2-3 meals a day, high protien (solid protien at that), big veggie serves, and very low minimally processed carbs. She'd romp it into qualifying for surgery even if she binges on veg.
Granted I didn't watch her dumb video but was she actually *denied* or just given a year long requirement to meet like EVERYONE said would happen? Whether it be lose a certain amount, be on a certain diet, psych eval, everyone said the approval process would take months to a year.
She wasn't denied, rather she was told to qualify she'd need a year binge-free. She is still in the program, being followed by the dietician and referred to a pysch.
Iicing on the cake is that she was cock blocked for WLS by her dietician. The actually person dealing with her drug of choice just said nope, no, get the fuck out of my face you lying, fat whore. Love it!
Amber treats medical professionals as though they don't know what they are talking about. She also makes excuses that she expects people will blindly accept as truth. She was warned that any weightgain on the program means you're out or you start again. Miss a regularly scheduled session and it is automatically recorded as a weight gain, because that’s how patients try to hide a gain. That's what happened, and potentially something in her GP referal indicating Amber lied about binge eating.
This decision of refusing her bariatric surgery was not made by the dietician alone. I’ve been working with medical professionals long enough to know that the decision was made by the medical team after discussing her case. What she is not telling us is that she was probably given a goal weight to lose and will be weighed at her monthly visit to the dietician. It is one thing of bamboozling YT viewers with fudged weight numbers, it is another when you go to a clinic, and they weigh you. I bet that if she fails to maintain the weight loss, the surgery will be pushed back even further.
She was nowhere near the point where an MDT (Multi Disciplinary Team) are involved. Everyone within that team has guidelines to follow and her dietician simply told her what her rules within that clinic are. She wasn't denied surgery, she was told she wouldn't be approved unless she stops the binge eating. She was also told at the information seminar that patients must not gain any weight. She admitted in the video right before her appointment that she hadn't lost any more weight (her laughable 500lb plateau). When the dietician weighed her there was no escaping the fact that she likely gained which set off the dieticians alarm bells. So the situation was discussed and Amber was told the facts. It's not a denial though, it's just a delay. Guaranteed, Dr Smith has still never even heard her name let alone discussed her at an MDT meeting.
I am not buying that she was upfront about BED at her psych evaluation or her dietician.
She absolutely wasn't. She completely backtracked on that diagnosis as soon as she heard that any ED is an automatic disqualification for bariatric surgery
they weighed her & she gained a significant amount and she was unable to explain it away. This is how the dietitcian uncovered her binge eating and told her no WLS until no binges for a year.
Very likely scenario, although she only needed a 1lb gain for this to happen
I'm sure she stopped at McDonalds on the way home from the appt to eat her feelings away
Guaranteed. Given its a 30 minute drive she probably stopped at a couple of others as well.
I was thinking it could be that, OR, the paperwork from her primary care physican was the wrench that got thrown into the system. The first stage with going to a specialist is usually a referral from your doctor. Amber sought out the WLS herself, did all of the tests and appointments, and then went to her doctor for the referral as the LAST step. It seemed to be AFTER the step of bringing her doctor's paperwork to the WLS that suddenly she 'plateaued'. And then blamed her DIAGNOSIS (not her overeating behaviour) on getting booted. I wouldn't be surprised if there was something the PCP's paperwork which spoke about Amber's claims of being unable to control her overeating and her BED diagnosis - and during the appointment, her dietician basically said "WTF is THIS?" Then she started porking out once the gig was up, but delayed telling her audience to drag out the story as much as possible. Why else would they waste their time with her if she was ineligible for the procedure from the beginning? Her space could have gone to someone actually eligible for the procedure. They would have immediately told her to come back later, like the last WLS clinic she tried.
She certainly didn't take the usual route of GP referal first, but the way she's gone about it also isn't rare, particularly if the person concerned is unsure of their GP'S reaction and is self-pay. She probably thought that if she could get through the pysch exam, and lose some weight in the first few months, then her GP would do her referral with no issue. The other thing that often happens (insider info here), is if a patients GP is anti-WLS, then the bariatric clinic will send them to another GP with their weightloss program records, and get the referal that way. Not sure how referrals to specialists work in the states, but here right under the text to the specialist is a list of current medical conditions along with current medications (sometimes IME very outdated) and most recent blood and/or radiology screenings. If they do something like that then BED probably appeared right there under current medical conditions.
In this instance, I do think it was as simple as Amber gained weight, the dietitcian asked questions and Amber made excuses before finally admitting to an overeating session (aka a binge). What she probably doesn't realise is that she is not the unique snowflake she thinks she is, and this dietician has heard every excuse in the book hundreds of times. You get hardened in the clinic setting, and that's why there are hard and fast rules in place. Currently, she is still in the program. The program just has rules that Amber thought she could circumvent but can't.
I don’t expect her to stay on the program, but I hope for her sake that she does.
