Now this won't happen. The only way any fat is being carved off off her is if she has loose skin removed. While I do think she'll eventually qualify for WLS...not forgetting she still has to find a way to pay for it...I don't believe she'll ever lose enough weight for a plastic surgeon to approve her for skin removal surgery.

1. Hamber whines about not liking having a "set time" to weigh in for the audience. Then stop setting times, you fat fuck. The audience isn't holding a gun to your empty fucking head, telling you that you must weigh in every Sunday. YOU set the time. Stop acting like it's the fault of the audience that you can't stick to a single fucking thing.

Also, as history has repeatedly shown us, when Hamber pulls this crap, she's gaining. I will not believe any weight she gives until it's at a doctor's office.

2. Hamber has also decided - as she does every time she whines about her one and only job - she has been oversharing and she's going to stop that. Without a hint of irony or self-awareness, the next section of her bitchfest is that her nips were sore after her ladybits got yeeted. Never change, dumbass.

The importance of sticking to her Sunday weigh in is that Sunday is her designated fast food day. Can’t have that sodium induced water weight buggering up her totally real weight loss because she’s weighing on a Monday or Tuesday after a fast food binge.

Also…this is just a theory on my part…Amber will be required to attend monthly support group meetings at the practice, at least until she has had her surgery. Participants are ALWAYS weighed at these meetings, in fact they are weighed every time they step into the clinic. I believe it is between these meetings that 1lb weight loss must come, and any gain (or non-attendance) gets them booted from that surgical cohort, and they have to start over again. These meetings are usually held either at night or on a weekend, because most people actually work and don’t/can’t take time off so frequentry. What’s the bet that Ambers are on either a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. That would certainly explain her fast food day being Sunday after a compulsory weighin.

Unfortunately she’s not going to show us that, at least no time soon. She’s already said that she won’t film in the clinic. Mind you, I can’t see her not filming it should she ever reach her goal weight for surgery. She’s just too smug to let that opportunity to brag go by. At the moment though she still believes she only has to lose 1lb so has already met that requirement. She needs to go back and see how much Dr Smith made both Chris and Tammy lose before he would perform their surgeries, because she is not getting off any lighter. I can’t wait for the day she finally sees someone, either the bariatric doctor, or the surgeon, and gets handed the shocking news of just how much she really has to lose before approval.

Spoiler: for those that questioned the “fatty liver” comment

During laparoscopic WLS the liver has to be lifted up via retractor to give the surgeon access to the stomach. A liver that is full of fat is very fragile and can easily break on lifting it this way. A non-fatty liver is much more durable and has no issues being lifted out of the way. This is why surgeons make patients do a liver reducing diet. The first fat lost during weight loss comes out of the liver stores. Unfortunately the liver is also the first place to store excess weight. If Amber has really lost 20lb+ already, and not regained it, then her liver should already be okay for surgery. Mind you surgeons will still make patients do a liver reducing diet in the weeks before surgery regardless. It’s no longer always a liquid diet though.

Gastric bypass is still the gold standard WLS. It is however a longer and technically more difficult surgery and therefore less safe for the super duper morbidly obese. It's also a cheaper surgery so favoured by those who are self pay. The VSG is a shorter surgery that involves no digestive system reorganisation. The VSG is preferred for the ultra fats because it is far quicker to perform and they can get pretty good results to a point. When they are smaller and have shown they have made the necessary lifestyle changes, and less of an anesthesia risk, a second stage surgery can be performed to convert the VSG to a DS (Duodenal Switch).

VSG rarely comes with dumping syndrome, and questioning of patients who claim to have it usually confirms that they don't. What VSG does come with is a very high risk of acid reflux. As the VSG has no malabsorption component it is often recommended for younger females planning future pregnancies, but that still doesn’t prevent gastric bypass procedures being approved for those women. Gastric bypass is well known for better weightloss results in diet compliant patients, and those results are backed up by decades of studies.

They do still get ulcers along the stapleline, although it is not as common. VSG patients will have far more issues with acid reflux though, and in patients with pre-existing GERD, a gastric bypass (or variant) should be the surgery offered as it is the cure for GERD, whereas VSG will exacerbate that health issue.

That's a new one to me. I'd appreciate seeing a source study for my own educational purposes. The laparotomy part that is. The bypass diabetes stuff is common knowledge. VSG patients are far more likely to need revisional surgery which is both more complicated and has an up to 20x higher risk of very dangerous staple line leaks.

Also, VSG is NOT reversible as the remnant stomach is removed. Technically a gastric bypass IS reversible as the remnant stomach is still living in the abdominal cavity. Reversals are rarely ever performed though. Also, after bypass, the tissue in the remnant stomach is available to be used should it be required later in life to repair the stomach eg. If cancer needs to be removed.

The VSG uses far more staples than a gastric bypass. In the VSG the stapleline runs the entire length of the stomach, whereas in a gastric bypass the staples only run across the much narrower top of the stomach. If you think there are no staples in the VSG, then you've just proven your ignorance of WLS procedures.

If you are instead referring to Endoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy it is NOT the same thing as a VSG, is NOT a common or recommended procedure, and has very poor results and poor durability as the stitches breakdown over time.

There are unfortunate souls where fat cells propagate around their liver first, this is how some thin folks get T2D despite living normal day-to-days. A fatty liver for the modern overweight/obese person comes from overloading the liver with fructose. Fructose goes through a rate-limited process before it's able to be utilized and/or stored. When these enzymes are overloaded, the fat that's being processed ends up propagating around the liver as some expedient measure instead of moving down the assembly line to be stored properly in her back and front shelf. In Amber's case, I highly doubt the touted 10% decrease in body-weight will resolve the issue, she will need to follow that liquid diet like she was about to beat Becky for eating her cereal. I'm not convinced Amber is disciplined enough to get past this stage, she will need to find another sidewalk to shred her other ankul so she can be placed in a coma.

... I have never watched an episode of My 600 Pound Life -- until this past Sunday. I have since watched most of season 10 of the men episodes.

I don't think about LOLCOWS when I'm not here however the entire time I watched this show I thought "man ok yeah , Dr Now is just telling it like it is " and with the minor changes Amber would never qualify for this. There's no way she could change her eating habits to the caloric limit and she would miss her psychology appointments.

Next thought I had before I forgot about her again was that she will die how she lived. Fat.

That's just one reason. MSPL picks these people for various reasons, lolcowdom being one of them (see Steven Assanti), but non TV doctors don't have TLC bux and fame to fall back on.
