I can’t speak to that because I’ve never used the ER for a random issues. But anyone can go get an MRI or CT scan or whatever kind of imaging they want (in the US). You need a referral mostly for insurance purposes but the independent places are happy to do it as long as you can pay. Or in her case, physically fit in a machine.
