Quoting this from another thread (is that poor form? Meh). I thought the discussion belonged here.
I think you're onto something. It would also explain why AL is deadset on going to Oklahoma rather than flying her mom out to Kentucky: She wants out. It's no secret she hates KY, and if she can just get Becky away from her family for a bit, she's probably sure she could manipulate her into relocating permanently. And if not -- if Becky just chauffeurs her to OK and ultimately heads home -- it's not a huge loss because she's got a new caretaker AND she's no longer subject to the indignity of living two hours away from the nearest Cheesecake Factory.
Call me a haydur, call me a cynic, call me a conspiracy theorist, but every time I imagine the stupidest, most narcissistic, self-serving, and bizarre explanation for known facts, AL one ups me with a truly fucked-up sitchyation. If I think to myself, "Nah, it CANNOT POSSIBLY be that bad," it turns out to be much, much worse.
I just feel like this is one of those times.
