I think he might be pretty normal for that part of the world.

Every time I have ever encountered anyone saying "Age of consent is a western concept and children can consent whether you say so or not, and child porn should be legal" out in public without even a hint of shame they have been from Singapore, Malaysia, The Philipines or Thailand.

It's not a western concept, though. Singapore and Malaysia have an age of consent at 16. Thailand and the Philippines are 18.

That region does have a lot of Islamic fundamentalists, though, and they often want to put the age of consent down to 9 (the age of Aisha when Muhammad fucked her, and the legal age in Yemen, Afghanistan, and the Maldives) or none at all (Saudi Arabia's current law). Sudan, another Islamic republic, is also vile, with an age of consent of 10. Fortunately, they haven't actually seized control of anywhere in South East Asia to implement their disgusting desires.

You must have been lucky enough not to encounter many Islamic fundamentalists from other places.
