An update to dislikes on YouTube

Youtube's dislikes now show up when signed out but not when signed in for me. It's inverted itself. The announcement video isn't showing up when I search it which tells me they eiother privated or delisted it and are gonna upload a fresh version with only likes.

EDIT: No it just is buried from the algorithm, still here. likes splurted upways again.

I can still see dislikes if I view YT while signed out too.
For me it's now not showing on either, like immediately after I saw this and checked to make sure it was still visible.
I'm trying to figure out what exactly is triggering the visible/invisible likes thing going on that keeps flip flopping on itself like this.

I can't see dislikes at all on mobile in either the youtube app or browser app. But I can see them just fine logged in or logged out on PC but only on the firefox browser. Every other browser I've downloaded and tested shows nothing in the dislikes.

I can see dislikes on Firefox, logged in or out, but only if I'm in a non-private browser. Private browser hides them.

The bad thing is, people have been predicting the death of Youtube for years, and that fucker is still going. It's like Zombie Simpsons, it won't die no matter how shit it gets.

The good thing is, Youtube's growing less and less culturally relevant, and has been for some time. The younger userbase has mostly abandoned it in favor of Tiktok, niche users have been driven to alternatives like Bitchute and Twitch, and while Google keeps hoping to push crap like Youtube TV, that's not going to happen any more than Google+ did. It may be hard to see NOW, but I think YT is already in a similar position to Facebook circa five years ago; pretty soon, it's going to be only you and your grandma, stuck in a 2010s timecapsule.

Of course they don't want to disable dislikes when people are signed out... It would make no sense for someone that is new to the site to click on a video and see that there is fact no dislikes. They'd be just as dumfounded as the people that have been using the site for 10+ years. Boggles my mind how YouTube keeps making absent-minded decisions. I guess when you're the monopoly on video sharing you can do anything you want

I was wondering why I was the only one who was seeing dislikes. Hopefully YouTube doesn't fix it because I dislike seeing solely the likes and not the dislikes. It's like the video up loaders are scared of seeing down votes because their narcissism.

I hope you're right but I think YouTube too popular and modern to take down at the moment. Unlike cable T.V. YouTube is in the position for viewers who are interested in watching videos and they have many options without the annoying cable subscriptions.

Had youtube autoplayign vidya music in Incognito/private mode only to notice it's showing dislikes again, but it's also showing a weird seemingly broken button that completely omits comments when I click the expand thing. It shows one of the comments and seems to be intended as an optional "comments tab" or some shit. No doubt this is them trying to impliment something to curtail the negative feedback as people predicted but I haven;t seen anny announcement if it's indeed what this is. Point is it looks like dogshit and it's not showing up on logged in youtube with dislikes and specific number counts removed.

The same thing was said about AOL, Yahoo and Hotmail. All of these were behemoths, pinnacles of technology. AOL faded into obscurity despite an incredible amount of market penetration. Yahoo got out-algorithmed and Hotmail went from having the most high tech email servers on the planet to being an MS afterthought.

Something is going to change, again, and YouTube will be too big a company to fundamentally alter its model so it'll get eaten alive by a startup.

I think it's more like the rollout is a nightmare to synchronize across all the servers and it's making the seams show in the system

Clicking the comments button for me loads comments to the right of the video above the recommended videos so you can scroll through the comments while watching the video. If you're in theater mode it'll remove the comments from the normal section and put them in the same smaller box right above the recommended videos making a head scratcher of why.

weird, for me it just made them vanish. The function isn't there now for me, nor is the ability to dislike again. it keeps fucking flipping around in such a breakneck way that every tie I report on anything it changes shortly after lmao.

Looks like YouTube on FIrefox has finally been updated and I'm already not a fan of hiding the dislikes. Feels like all the videos are ads where you either like them or not use the site all together. Why have like/dislikes if no one can dislike? That's like have yes and no, but no is removed at the same time.

This has probably been proposed already but since channels can see their own dislikes, the best system would either be an extension that creators voluntarily opt-in to show their dislikes, or a community maintained dislike counter for every video?

The fact that creators are the the only ones that can see the dislikes after this change is one of the many blatant tells that this being to "help small creators from being harassed" is a god damn lie. everyone called them out on this and got canned responses telling them they could just turn off likes/dislikes as an option.
