He seems to do it all the time (like his hatred for the Anime style or people complaining about how horrible his art/humor/behavior is).
I can only guess that any critic of his he draws will appear as ugly, angry, smelly, fat, unpleasable, or any combination of the above.

I just started getting into this guy last month-ish, and he makes my head explode. Class Act loser.

lol who changes a video card on a mac? PRESTON. love this parody.

The funny thing about his dislike of the Anime style is that it started because he was "overthrown" from the president position at the Anime fanclub in his college.
He made a whole journal about it. His old journals are the funniest.

There is also a journal where he says he threw a chair at a co-worker for teasing him about the ending of a Harry Potter book.

His artwork is meh.
Most people would ignore him, but he's such an asshole.

I assume this is reference to some artist and how that isn't a very well drawn picture but....

Oh God... I had finally suppressed the memory... Why did you have to.....

That movie wasn't banned, I've seen it on T.V. a few years back. They just removed the Mysterious Stranger part. The claymation is kind of disturbing though, the creator (same guy that made the california raisin commercials in the 1980's) put way too much detail into the faces and made them uncanny.

Oh I know it's not banned. I just can't find any other copies of that sequence. The title is freaking ridiculous.

But that one scene is a touch creepy.

To the point of OP - I have never heard of Andrew Dobson. But those videos were hilarious.

Christ, I haven't seen that in years. I loved that movie.

I looked through some of his comics, but can't decide if he's a sad sack whose repressed unhappiness cause him to lash out to others and a rather sympathetic character deep down, or an insufferable jackass who is hypocritical, creepy, and can't stand constructive criticism.

When I first discovered Tom Preston's So You're A Cartoonist series, I thought it was alright. I didn't think it was the best comic I'd ever read, but I didn't think it was awful either. But I think that after the whole "tracing Big Ben" and Tumblr meltdown debacle in 2012, his art somehow got worse. That Mark Twain picture above is a great example of that.

He doesn't seem to understand that changing a certain aspect of your artwork i.e inking, colouring, shading etc. doesn't automatically make your art better. You have to actually understand how to apply it to your work and practice a hell of a lot with it to actually improve. He just seems to do it to try and get his critics to leave him alone and to have this illusion that he's taking criticism on board. The fact that he made the main character of the SYAC comic a bear was also an attempt to stop people from comparing the main character to him. Even though the bear has the exact same personality and does the exact same things the human version did, it's somehow a different character not totally not based off him at all...

And he also posed as a 15 year old girl when he was in his mid 20's and drew a lot of disturbing inflation art. Quite amusing when you look at a lot of his recent "DON'T OBJECTIFY WOMEN" comics.

Yeah, some of the earlier SYAC weren't terrible. I'd read them whenever I happened to be on DA and they were on the front page. But man they had a short half life.

I've been taking a gander at his work/history. I have to say, it's doubly ironic given some of his old work, even ignoring the inflation shit.

Points I'm thinking of, first "Sins of a Complacent Artist" video, 7:15, inserting lesbians into everything. Now... I don't know his work that well, so I can't say this with certainty, but a lot of the stuff he does with that character seems to reek of "I have no problem with gay rights because lesbians are hot."

9:53 - Remember when you didn't write every single female as stronger and wittier than their male counterparts?

Yeah. A topless woman beating up on a guy ( while another topless woman says "Men are soooo stupid!"

Doesn't at seem like some sort of fetishization. No sir. The champion of Women's Rights, people.

I mean, if it weren't for the stupid fucking smirk and the fact that they are half-naked, I'd really think he was just trying to get a "Girl power!" pat on the head. Instead I smell a fetish. Because a half-naked girl beating a guy while her half-naked friend taunts him doesn't at all seem like a fetish (Which on it's own, I've got no beef with. )

Again, I don't know him that well, so I can't really be sure, but a lot of his pro-woman stuff really seems like he is just trying to win brownie points or something. "Men suck, don't they, gals?" It's like... A slightly less horrible version of the naked Rosechu.... ehrm... beating up Jack Thaddeus.
