I can't really get mad a Dobson for anything he says because I think most of it can be chalked up to profound lack of social awareness. It's kind of like getting mad at Chris; there's really no point. I like seeing his art because I can look at what's not working and try to learn from his mistakes.
I just laugh at him because I'm a little shit.

I disagree. I don't understand art. I enjoy seeing why I don't like Dobson's work. There's always something very ugly about the way he draws and I have no words to use to describe it. People point out things like "light sources" and it clicks why it looks off.

Another example of this in a grander scheme is the Plinkett reviews of Star Wars. Star Wars prequels were old as fuck by the time they came out, largely irrelevant in even their own universe, but Plinkett was able to use simple tools to demonstrate cinematographic concepts I had no understanding of. He also shed light on George Lucas and his incompetence in a sort of Dobson-esque way. I suppose if George Lucas spent time whining on Twitter, we could have a thread on him.

Point is that this appears to be, largely, a case of "I don't like this lolcow therefore everyone who does like this lolcow is a lolcow themselves because my tastes are better ha ha ha ha suck my cock". It's really fucking annoying. It's like people who purposefully rile up the Chris board. Chris has been around forever and most people just want to see where the train stops. Quit giving people shit for having a muse.

My biggest problem with the Dobson thread is that half of the time it's just people posting tweets from Dobson and recounting all the ways he's a terrible human being. The thread really only gets interesting when Dobson posts artwork.

Edit: Though I must say that Dynastia did deserve getting his posts reported since he was clearly trying to derail the thread.

Seeing the ratings under that post is almost as tragic as the post itself.

Far as Dobson goes, he's just really, really meh to me. Like, I get how he's a technically a lolcow, I lurked his thread when there was activity now and again, but never found any of it to be entertaining. That really vague suicide baiting he did recently was about as close as it came. Seems the more frequently cited stuff happened at least a few years ago and even then, it just comes across more sad than funny, like the dreidel thing. I just can't laugh at it, not like I laugh at ADF or even the Golden Knight.

Leaving aside whether Dyn was sincere or not, the fact that a small little shitpost both derailed the thread and caused a shitstorm beyond the thread itself is much more saddening.

Dobson's views on social issues can be annoying or blatantly inaccurate, but being a log against him is going too far, I think.

Also, I think he's not really a bad cartoonist. I mean, he's not great either, but he still can draw better than a lot of people on dA, like Satan pointed out.

Yeah, I don't feel like digging it up right now, but Wizzrobe made this thread chronologically comparing his artwork and his learning curve (or lack thereof) to CWC's. Shit was so stupid and so full of hallmark a-log traits that you'd have almost been tempted to think he was trolling and being a bit try-hard, but alas...

I don't know if the Bionicle thing was specifically part of that thread, but it was basically his Sanic.

People just constantly posting in the thread and pouncing and obsessing about everything this one (rather unremarkable in his beliefs most of the time) guy who is a sperg, sure, but isn't funny.

I notice that in other lolcow threads too, but sometimes they just deserve it plain and simple. Probably not Dobson so much, I never thought much of Dobson anyway and he just seems like a socially awkward guy, but cows like ADF, James Terry Mitchell Jr., Preggobloom, and Nick Bate are more what I had in mind.

Dobson's boring, I read the thread and it's all people sperging about how the shading should be a different color or the background is too plain or something. Like, I get it, you regret your art degree, it's understandable, but only for awhile. Most people don't care, terrible stuff gets popular all the time.

I think a lot of people's problem/interest with Dobson is that he regressed so hard in art and he doesn't give a fuck about what he does.
I have never seen an artist go from being ok, to being mediocre as fuck and it's bizarre

Also I think what makes some people angry is that Dobson had a huge audience (on DA, he was incredibly popular there amonst the tartletts) and had he cared about his art he could have gotten better and been small time successful on the internet. Then Dobson went cray cray and these days he spends all his time screaming into the void that is twitter

So yeah, lots of wasted potential to go around
