Dobson's views on social issues can be annoying or blatantly inaccurate, but being a log against him is going too far, I think.

Also, I think he's not really a bad cartoonist. I mean, he's not great either, but he still can draw better than a lot of people on dA, like Satan pointed out.

Well he did go to art school, so that is to be expected. Not a big fan of it though.

That said, I'm kinda getting over it myself. Dobson's becoming old news, and to be honest, there's just too soon a time frame before people (like me) keep on saying the same old comments we've all said about him- "He's a bad artist", "He's a shitty feminist", "He's into lesbianism because of this, that or the other." And really, it's not that funny/informative the millionth time it's been said.

That's why I recommend that people take a break from him for a (long) while, like what I'll be doing.

I disagree. I don't understand art. I enjoy seeing why I don't like Dobson's work. There's always something very ugly about the way he draws and I have no words to use to describe it. People point out things like "light sources" and it clicks why it looks off.

Another example of this in a grander scheme is the Plinkett reviews of Star Wars. Star Wars prequels were old as fuck by the time they came out, largely irrelevant in even their own universe, but Plinkett was able to use simple tools to demonstrate cinematographic concepts I had no understanding of. He also shed light on George Lucas and his incompetence in a sort of Dobson-esque way. I suppose if George Lucas spent time whining on Twitter, we could have a thread on him.

Point is that this appears to be, largely, a case of "I don't like this lolcow therefore everyone who does like this lolcow is a lolcow themselves because my tastes are better ha ha ha ha suck my cock". It's really fucking annoying. It's like people who purposefully rile up the Chris board. Chris has been around forever and most people just want to see where the train stops. Quit giving people shit for having a muse.

To me, this whole ordeal was not about giving people shit about which lolcow to mock, but the fact that the thread was/is so autistic a small shitpost saying "ya I don't think this guy is a lolcow" (which, by the way, wasn't even dyn, but Alan; Dyn just went yah I agree) derailed the thread and the sperging hemorrhaged beyond the thread.

Anyone saying that this was at any point about giving people shit for liking to mock Dobson is throwing red herrings. This was about the thread being effectively more trollable than the Enterspergs.

I might have had a reaction like that to early CWC, because that stuff was worse than Dobson's current material, but Dobson's art alone does not make him a cow, just really lazy and unwilling to take enough pride in his craft to make sure it stays consistently good, so bashing him for his art at this point is beating a dead and bloated horse.

Dobson's pathetic attempts to hitch his star to SJWism and suck up to people like Brianna Wu are much funnier, especially when compared to his perversions and views on lesbians, but even the former by itself makes him no more a cow than every other beta male on the internet.

Honestly at this point, that's about all the man's good for. His moronic twitter feeds and tweet wars against other users. The problem here is that we're pretty much documenting every single one he makes.

Sure I can understand someone like say, Strikerwolf, because you don't know what insane shit's going to come out of him. But when Dobson's is almost nothing about "bitching about this or that person/website/game/whatever" and his stupid views on sex and feminism. It starts to get annoying after a while and you keep repeating the same thing about the guy and his posts time and again.

Won't lie though, some of them are entertaining.

Absolutely. Granted, the fact the tiniest morsel of bait was enough to make the entire thread go up in flames gives me pause for thought. (Though really, it doesn't surprise me that much - I've been here long enough to have witnessed the Bob death tape, CWC fire charity drive and Mighty Wings spergfests firsthand.) Still, Dynastia articulated something that has been (vaguely) bothering me for a while - that as Dobson releases less and less new content, we've been guilty of reaching just a little too hard for new things to say about him.

One thing I'm curious about - is a thread automatically locked once it reaches a thousand pages? I'm not sure where I heard this - but given we're rapidly approaching that point, it seems almost providential that cat, Dynastia and co. should show up and play Devil's Advocate. Their expressions of doubt force us to reassess our reasons for following Dobson - and assuming the original thread is about to be locked at a thousand pages, decide whether or not it's worth starting a second thread.

I'd be in favor of just including Dobson in other threads when he does stupid crap alongside other cows, much like Arthur Chu only gets mentioned alongside other cow stupidity, since by themselves, they are fairly colorless morons.

I'm honestly depressed at how the Dobson thread has gone, especially since I like him as a cow that's worth looking at as a case study. This is a guy who legitimately has some artistic merit, who has gotten an education in his field, and yet he feels the need to let his politics and his ideologies rule his life when he's not being exceptionally lazy, and attributing all of it under his real name basically means that he's a toxic waste dump to anyone who googles his name. We're not talking about someone like Chris who honestly had a lot of the cards set against him from birth, but a genuinely talented man who basically pissed away his future, dreams, and career for the sake of kissing up to a fad. He's a cow in that he seems to not realize the gravity of his actions.

But, y'know, most people like going with the low hanging inflation jokes (which got really old).
