From what I've seen, KF definitely has a large contingent of the "I watch Metokur on the daily" people on the right who lead the discussion. Dunno if anyone else has seen this but a Twitter account has come out publicly blackmailing Stripe to change their ToS after the shooting, as well as pressuring them to terminate Gabs service.

This account also claims to have been communicating with Stripe over the past year.

On one hand, I think companies should have the right to deny service. But on the other hand, monopolies like Google and PayPal have made it so it’s pretty much impossible to get that particular service once they deny it to you. There’s no real alternative for PayPal, Twitter, and Facebook.

This is somewhat of a problem. As incompetent as spergy as Gab users are, this is somewhat of a dangerous precedent. These guys are denied a platform, so they found their own hugbox, and that hugbox is forced into essentially failing. So will they turn back to Facebook and these other monopolies, or dive deeper into places that use Tor?

Also appears that any alternative or new competition can theoretically be strong armed into either adopting certain standards, or they can have support from Paypal pulled. We saw that with Patreon and Robert Spencer, where they were told to remove him, or they would have Paypal and Mastercard services removed. Justifiable now because the guy was an "extremist", but it could in theory be used for anything they didn't like.

Would also be interesting to see what would happen if these monopolies decide to become woke, and enforce stupid policies. Will there be a mass exodus to another platform, or will everyone be stuck there as there are no viable alternative?

As far as I know only protected categories like race, sex, etc are ones you can't discriminate on. You always can discriminate based on political beliefs. I'm not even sure to what extent thinks the government should do anything, he seemed to mostly want senpai to notice him and tweet about him. I don't really know what Torba has said in the past. The populist-leaning right like Tucker Carlson (though he disavows populism) and a lot of the Trump people are the ones that think government should have a bit of a hand in intervening in these matters. Torba may be in that crowd.
