I've tried so many alt tech video hosts and they're all fucked. Gab TV is a great website and very generous with encode quality, but it's not finished and they don't seem to be working on it. Bitchute, in addition to the other problems listed, don't host content forever. If you go to a lot of old videos they're permanently unplayable, useless for archiving.

Odysee as an alternative seemed cool, but you have to have coins to start a channel, and the only option for getting them were giving private info, there's no way to buy them in the US, so fuck that.

So right now I'm uploading on Peertube, but they have the Fediverse problem where you never really know if the node is going to be taken off the Internet on a whim.

It’s been 3 years and BitChute’s video quality is still 360P, the search is garbage, and it takes 6 hours to upload a 5 MB video. Also took them 2 years to ditch Disqus and implement a basic comments system.

They also reached their $30,000 donation goal 3 months ago and and currently sit at $51,983 being donated monthly so they can deliver on new features and fixes. And yet shit like videos not loading is still a problem. I understand it takes time to implement new stuff and fix things but you'd think they would be working triple time to justify being given 52 grand a month. They even say on their donation page if they reach their goal they can fast track their development.

They should at least be able to tell people what it is they're doing.

Honestly really disappointed in BitChute. Obviously I didn't expect them to surpass YouTube or anything, but I at least thought they would be able to build a platform where you could upload low-quality videos without fear of getting nuked for wrongthink. Instead, whoever runs it is on the fast track to becoming Andrew Torba 2.0, and LBRY is beginning to overtake them. Kinda surprised they've managed to fuck themselves so hard in such a short timeframe, especially considering the significant amount of capital they have behind them. Fucking anglos.

I think its safe to say if your using Windows 10 then your not that interested in privacy or security. If you have limited resources then its not worth dedicating the manhours to a platform that wont have much uptake.

Trump has an account on Gab and Fox has given coverage to Gab before, if I recall. Also other politicians. Also people tricking other Christians into thinking they are supporting a Christian business by supporting Torba because supposedly Torba is a Christian and therefore being against Gab is being against a Christian business.

Easily misled and uninformed or even stupid people being led by the nose to a platform that is far from fringe. Fediverse is fringe. Gab is just Bitchute twitter.

I believe Torba made the Trump Gab account to reserve the name for him, as a way to try to entice him to join the website. Not sure whether it was handed over to his PR team or what.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this it's been a long time since I kept track of the whole thing.
