Ok I get the rebellion part but what does China have against high school romances?
China has been trying to take over anime for a while,if you lurk hard enough you'll know how much chinks envy it and bitch about how anime is pro Jap propaganda and xyz anime needs to be banned cause some characters looks like their glorious leader. If you see any anime with slant eyes that always wear ancient costumes, most likely that it was made by chinks.

Mao: Surprisingly good! I like the air of mystery it has and I have tons of questions so definitely looking forward to the rest. Winner of best OP this season.
Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? This anime has SOUL. It’s genuinely heartwarming watching both gals hangout & bond with mc-kun, and I’m glad he isn’t being gross about it. GOOD STUFF!
Those two are my picks, and I'm not disappointed in the slightest. I have really high hopes for Mao, it's a mature InuYasha. And the mc from Otagal is great, he's not a useless and indecisive faggot, he actually improves himself to match his new friends and does not back down when challenged out of his comfort zone.

The Seasons one peaked my interest as well, but I need to find time for it.

Very sweet reply
Awe thank you for leaving such a nice reply, that made my day! It's been a while since my last effort post and I was worried that my ramblings might come across as annoying, so I appreciate you taking the time not only to read through but to also look stuff up on MyAnimeList. I'll make sure to include MAL links in future posts so you don't have to search for individual titles - sorry about that! I'm also glad you liked some of my recommendations enough to check them out for yourself, those are good picks. I won't judge you for the chuuni lolol.
I also appreciated a lot of your trash talk; for a few I thought you were exaggerating, then when I went to read the description on My Anime List, it actually sounded worse than you described.
I'm more curious about these haha! I don't often read MAL synopses, which ones stood out to you?
When I saw that you were having your niece watch Cardcaptor Sakura, I knew you had good tastes overall.
Thank you so much! :heart-full: I too could tell you had great taste in anime when you agreed with my Pupipo recommendation a few pages back.

Can you help me out with something? I'm trying to clear my On Hold list on MAL so I figured I'd start with stuff in the 12/13 episode range, but I'm kinda stuck and can't decide what to watch next. Can you recommend me something out of the list in the spoiler? I thought I'd return the favor since you're watching stuff I recommended. Only if you want to, of course! No pressure.

Finished Stardust Crusaders. It was... alright - the final battle was fun and I liked how as he was losing control of the situation Dio became more like his Part 1 self lol. The Cool Ice fight was fantastic though, it's cemented Polnareff as my favourite character this part (hell he's more of a protagonist that Jotaro at times). The art was really good, as always.

Overall the last 20 chapters of this story has raised it from a 4/10 to a 6/10, I haven't forgotten how bored I was for the entire middle of this story, it really is just fights fights fights for 95% of the story.

Rewatched Patlabor 2 over the weekend and it's as excellent as ever, I cannot wait for EZY.

I'm glad to hear that. I always appreciate a nice effort post, so I wanted you to know someone actually read and appreciated it. You definitely don't need to add links next time, I think giving a season run down is already really helpful. I had thought this season was really lean, but your comment convinced me that I should give a few shows a shot when I get the chance.

For the descriptions I thought were funny, I thought Needy Girl Overdose's description was great, even if that sounded like the kind of lame edge I would enjoy. Your description of the trailer for Witch Hat Atelier was spot on, because she really does have that empty look of surprise on her face for half of it. Your description of Ramparts of Ice is completely spot on with what MAL says, just without the bullshit about what we're getting, as "scary girl is actually a kawaii uguu victim on the inside" is a pretty tired trope. Haibara's Teenage New Game+ was the funniest, since I thought you were exaggerating how boring it, is, but when I go to MAL it's literally just "loser gets to go to high school again". Aishiteru Game wo Owarasetai: "Very janky. Another one of those “teasing” anime. Just fuck already, jeez." was just funny because that's every romance anime to me, but then MAL says "However, as tender feelings begin to bloom in their hearts, the simple phrase has taken on new meaning beyond the rules of their game." and it's literally just your description in different words.

Yes, I can! Out of that list, I think Hataraku Saibou is the best. It's not world-shattering show or anything, but it's competently made, the characters are fun, and it has some factoids about the human body in it that can be neat if you don't know them. Distant second would be Hinamatsuri. I've seen the "surrogate father and daughter duo" story done better, but it's enjoyable enough, though the male is a bit too bristly and unlikable for a bit too long for my tastes. I won't say I have great tastes, but at least there's some clear overlap between us.

I think the OVA did it better, much less cotton candy circus bullshit, much more terror. I think the cinematography and quiet tone in the OVA is way better suited to how scary DIO and The World actually should be. They should be menacing.

Gotta love the old one and paper animation. That's about the one thing I'll grant it though. David Production nailed it with the Seiyuu and OST, though they just can't create fluid movement like this anymore

A Chinese animation studio, A4Works, apparently went bankrupt after producing the 1st episode of a donghua adaptation called "Call Up Girls":

Is this just due to budget mismanagement, or is it because of more sinister reasons like massive fund embezzlement, probably by either the executives or the CCP? And how does this bankruptcy compare to Japanese studios that have gone bankrupt in the past?

The Chinks apparently wasted a shit ton of money according to Google's dogshit AI, so grain of salt.

  • Excessive Production Costs: The studio pursued "overly high-quality animation" for their project, creating over 12,000 frames for a single episode, which is far more than the industry standard.
  • Budget Depletion: Due to constant redrawing in pursuit of perfection, the team ran out of money after only one episode.
  • Inexperienced Management: Poor management led to unsustainable production choices, including attempts to use AI and slashing salaries to keep going.
  • Mass Resignations: Following the financial issues, staff resigned, leading to the studio's bankruptcy.

I'm watching Cinderella Chef right now and it's cute. It's amusing that they literally re-use her transformation sequence every single episode, just tweaking it to match her clothes but having the motions and song be identical every time.

I haven't seen anybody mention this yet (I used the Search function on the whole forum also to be sure.) but the last 3 Chapters of Black Clover are out. I was kind of surprised at how it ended all of a sudden. I feel like there are still quite a few loose threads with the main one for me being who Asta's Father is. I assumed it would be Astaroth for obvious reasons, but it was never revealed (as far as I know.)
