CenturyLinkQuote did a poll on what state in America has their favorite popular anime.

The results were not surprising:

What do the Mormons see in Attack on Titan?
There's quite a number of Mormon anime fans, but it's more prevalent with the Zoomers. I wonder if The Walking Dead might've had something to do with it. Don't live in Utah, but I've known many an LDS member here who's watched The Walking Dead, and Attack on Titan is up that alley.

I think it is a little surprising. I wouldn't have thought that One Piece was still THAT overwhelmingly popular in the US.

I'd be interested in seeing more detailed breakdowns of the percentages... at the very least, the winning margin and the next two runner ups.

Honestly am surprised One Piece is favored by half of the nation's anime fans. Never would've expected that, not for another few years, anyway.

They kinda are with that new arc they’re working on now.

Cool. I bet there’ll be more shipping wars a brewing in the next 5 months after it’s released. And not sure if this was brought up as well

Shaman King talking about Ghostbusters Afterlife. I wonder what the folks from Yu Yu Hakusho or Bleach say about Ghostbusters Afterlife.

Wonder what that’s supposed to be

By the way I heard in the original version before it became a light novel then manga then anime, like in 2006-2008, it was a Xenomorph. Can someone confirm if that’s true?

So I decided to check out Vatican Miricle Examiner.

I loved it.

It's basically like an anime version of old British murder mystery's or stuff like Father brown & Sherlock homes. The mystery's accompanying the miracles were very fun, if over the top. From dealing with Nazis to killer clowns, but I respect the balls of the show to take it completely seriously and give heartfelt messages.

Surprisingly, they did a really good job on their research and knowledge of catholic lore. It's not perfect, but I was especially impressed with their understanding of how dangerous magic and demons can be in the spiritual sense. Im friends with someone who's delved into reading demonic texts for research, and the subtle crazed effect on the reader is not exaggerated, if anything they undersell it. I believe you need to get an exorcism or a deliverance prayer to get that off you or it could drive you insane. Also its subtle, but the Vatican is not portrayed squeaky clean. Our guys are the heroes, but they work for a very nebulous organization, which shows the writer knows about its questionable history.

I was very moved by the underling theme that the best miracles are not really big and flashy things. They are usually subtle moments of timing. The miraculous bouts of coincidence where the person, thing, or idea most suited to help, is there when needed. Ive found that to be true in my experience. There where two episodes in particular that im not ashamed to admit made me extremely emotional.

Negatives: There were parts where I was really wishing they would given a little bit more exposition, or pointed out heresy. For example, one priest gets the bright idea to write a magic sealing circle around a particularly cursed place. This is a TERRIBLE idea, not least of which because magic is fundamentally evil and a tool of the devil. On your best day, messing with stuff like Ouija boards is the spiritual equivalent of playing Russian roulette. If anything good happens, its like a dealer letting you win at a casino so you come back to waste all your money later. Or one case were someone is seemingly possessed by another's soul where holy water is ineffective. That's been reported to happen, and in some cases only the usage of prayer to the virgin Mary drove them out (although it turns out to have a more mundane explanation). They did a really great job showing stuff happening, but it may be hard to take seriously without proper foreknowledge or understanding of what's going in the spiritual background.

Also, there's almost always a guy who looks like a woman in every episode. It's a little distracting, It works in particular for one character, because they were clearly going for a Luciferic kind of beauty, but everybody else is more randomly placed.

Finally, im frankly shocked at how there isn't an option to purchase the novels or manga in English. I was already amazed there's no English dub for this, but frankly it seems criminal how under appreciated this series is. Although I do faintly remember anime news network and other places shitting on it back in the day. (For perfectly valid atheist reasons im sure. 🙄)

Overall I thought it was a fantastic watch and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Author Tomo Hanama and illustrator sune’s Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasuka? manga—AKA Hensuki for short—first launched back in January 2017, and now it’s officially completed its run. The 14th volume shipped in Japan this week, marking the end of the series that inspired a manga adaptation and TV anime along the way.

I should probably finish watching this when I have the chance.
