I keep forgetting Part 9 is even happening. I never see anyone talk about it, it seems to just have no impact anywhere and I find that incredibly strange.
It coming after Jojolion and essentially having a cast of unlikable zoomers probably having something to do with it infact twitter stopped caring about it when Dragona was revealed to just be a dude in a dress and not a tranny like they wanted. Overall its solid though but it's seriously lacking in memorable character moments and the Stands veer more into being anthropomorphic creatures than punching ghosts. Paco and Howler are unexpected highlights so far.

The problem today is that they want every dub to be the same. Fuck having fun.
Blame localizers for shitting up translations and scripts to push an agenda. Back then a dub was only bad due to censorship and broadcast standards made it difficult for anime to air on TV as is so they had no choice but to take liberties to make it as kid friendly as possible but now its just because Japs are more heavily involved to make sure no liberties are taken.

The manga is especially great. The paneling is god tier and doesn't get enough love
The clarity of the paneling in Dragon Ball is arguably unbeaten. It’s an economy of style that is hard to find outside of DB. For example, I enjoy Blame! but some of the action panels take it down a notch for me. That’s a shame because minimalism is the strength of Blame!. Yet the weak action paneling gets in the way.

It's also why Toyotaro is so much worse than Toriyama in every way. If you read the DBS manga the paneling and art just feel off compared to DB, both during Dragon Ball and Z

Idk maybe it's because Super just feels like a fan manga.

Even though some fanmangas are drawn better.

I’ve been watching Garouden on Netflix and I love it. I already enjoy the manga, and feel that as a martial arts series Garouden is one of the underrated GOATs even if you don’t see much conversation around it.
Compared to other martial arts stories, it’s one of the most reality based fighting manga I’ve ever seen. Aside from the dudes being impossibly strong and skilled, the way the fights are portrayed are extremely realistic. And as a martial artist, seeing what aspects of fighting particularly the older manga showcased is very interesting as it was well ahead of its time. That’s a whole other topic regarding manga and drawing trends, but trust me you can see the DNA of Garouden in many stories that came after regarding how it shows different aspects of the martial arts.
It’s a great drama with great and interesting characters, the fights are mint, and if you are a martial arts manga/anime fan I highly recommend anything Garouden.

They really make shows about any topic, don't they? There's a new one announced that focuses on foreign exchange trading.

It's like they made an anime about the screaming pink crypto wojak.

What do you mean by that? I'm genuinely curious how someone could consider the writing to be bad.
DB is filled with inconsistencies, retcons and at a certain point Toriyama just stopped trying to make sense of his own setting. Its even worse if you read the series from the beginning when you see Toriyama systematically forget to utilize every characters and whenever he does they either job or die unceremoniously to hype up the villain. And even ignoring the manga his outline and ideas for Super were also awful and if Daima was his final contribution to the franchise before his passing that's kind of sad.

my favorite is when roshi blew up the fucking moon and then piccolo does the exact same thing years later

super saiyan was also an asspull but it's le heckin classic so it passes
>it was introduced right before it was shown
that's what an asspull is
The idea of a Super Saiyan is mentioned when Nappa and Vegeta are traveling to Earth and brought up constantly on Namek before it is shown.

It's first brought up in Chapter 204. It's then mentioned multiple times by Frieza thinking about how someone could become a Super Saiyan while Vegeta is fighting Zarbon, by Vegeta thinking Goku may be one when fighting Ginyu, and by Vegeta thinking he is one when fighting Frieza.

They straight up mentioned that Kami wished the moon back in the manga. That's why he got rid of Goku's tail

i wonder how anyone could've missed one throwaway panel about this

I guess he at least mentioned it? Whatever the case, it's still really stupid. Especially since Piccolo just rips off Gohan's tail after anyway.
oh and it conveniently regrows in time for gohan to see vegeta's fake moon so he can buy more time
