In the year of our Lord of 2014 anime matsuri was the joke cosplayers made fun of at San Japan, Mechacon, A-kon, and Animefest. However by 2022 A-kon is about to be cancelled, Mechacon has officially bit the dust, Animefest is on a severe decline due to a lack of funds and only San Japan and Anime Matsuri have weathered the decline/thrived.
Funny you should mention San Japan since the former guy in charge there, Dave Henkin, was a part of WRAC ("We Run Anime Conventions"), a Facebook group comprised of convention owners like Faisal Ahmed and Amanda "Jenny" McManus that discussed "how to improve their conventions" that eventually employed mafia-style tactics (threatening to cut off resources, etc).

Maybe a company like Pierrot should license.
Hey, were their '80s magical girl anime ever properly licensed out here? I'm looking, but Creamy Mami, Persia and Magical Emi are complete no-shows in America. I don't even know if Harmony Gold still holds the rights to Creamy Mami which would keep it in limbo, and Pastel Yumi is on Retro Crush, but are people even aware of that being up there?

Like with the Dr. Slump example, it'd be a huge stretch, but there's still stuff from Pierrot that could be released to a wider audience.

I think that'd be too early for them.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of titles that have never been released in North America.
They could also dub donghua (Chinese “anime”) since Funination is doing things like getting the license to shows like Heaven’s Official Blessing. But that’s…well….probably another story considering things like Jonah Scott being cancelled from dubbing Chinese media for saying that Taiwan is a country.

That's very niche, though.

I definitely think there's a good niche to be found in re-releasing older hidden gems, stuff that either never found the audience it deserved or was popular but has since faded from memory and is begging for rediscovery or was never even officially released in the US at all.

There's also room for an anime publisher in the proud tradition of companies like ADV to actually have more of a brand identity than "releases anime" and build up a close relationship with fans.

At the very least there's room for being a sort of oasis for fans who aren't down with the program of the Woke takeover of the rest of the publishing industry and culture, the Anime Matsuri con could bill itself as a more "anything goes" con as opposed to the ever growing laundry list of rules by the "no fun allowed" Woke crew, a return to the vibe of 2000s era cons.

The main draw of anime to me was always in the context of US culture, US publishers, US fandoms, US cons, English dubs etc, I got nothing against fansubs but that's just personally the main draw and I've drifted way away from the whole thing since #KickVic but AM Studios is definitely a company I will support.

Honestly, win or lose it's beautiful that anyone is at least trying to save things from the Woke hoard, at least we'll be able to say we didn't go down without a fight.

My thoughts on the Simpcast panel in one image:

Technically, TUG wasn't listed as an official guest.
Technically, that doesn't make his seat at that panel in 2019 any less self-serving or completely unnecessary.

When do you think they'll take on 'celebrity' voice actors like the simpcast thots, cecil and the friday night tights crew?
Hopefully never, but it is worth noting that AM probably isn't going to be able to draw upon most of the current VAs active in the industry. That could be a good or bad thing depending on what they do use.

I just want to know if I can wear an ahegao shirt to the con. If I can't, then no sale.

In all seriousness, I really hope AM is able to pull this venture off, as the rest of the woke con tyrants and their orbiters in the U.S. desperately need the ginormous enema that this could provide.

They should get discotek for that, they brought back Cutey Honey a few years ago. I'd buy good shit like that.

Imagine wanting Mike Toole & Justin Sevakis to get a hold of an anime so they could put a trigger warning at the beginning of it.

Kind of ironic since Vic loved working in ADV and Anime Matsuri is in Houston.

I've updated the OP with a grammatical edit and I've added the archive of Renfamous' involvement with Boycott Anime Matsuri and a link to Tyler Willis' thread (special thanks to @Captain Manning for pointing me in the right direction).
I'm not getting any audio for the video under
During the convention's final day, attendees would learn how AM Studios would distribute these new dubs:

DiscoTek is woke SJW garbage that literally sends checks to the same ANN employees who destroyed this fandom and employs Twitter leftists that censor their subtitles to remove gay jokes.

I think the point of an AM label would be to provide a good alternative to companies like that. I say go independent as possible with no links to other companies or distributors so we can actually have a cancer-free company again.

So, in-house? That's a coin toss.
They have to set up A LOT of internal structures to get off the ground (web designers, artists, accountants, etc.).
The payoff will be customers able to buy directly from them, but I'm not going to pretend that there won't be any hiccups.
Speaking of direct customer interaction, here's an idea:
Along with possible premieres of anime titles they get the license to, why don't they sell limited edition boxsets of the titles they would already have at the convention as an incentive for collectors? Have these "Anime Matsuri (insert year) Edition" titles have exclusive cover art, a bonus disc that has behind-the-scenes interviews with the cast, animators, producers (English & Japanese), and (I know this might be stretching it) a copy of the soundtrack. Maybe other merch based on those titles like plushies, keychains, figures, etc.
More bang for the buck!
