First I heard of her was on PZ Myers blog on FTB.

It was basically "this is an interesting video and if you would like her to make more, donate" which all sounds pretty reasonable.
However, PZ Myers talks about octopuses, erm octopi err octopussies way more than he ever has vidya, so looking back I'm suspicious that the first rumblings of GG had come to the attention of Becka Watson et al, and they had contacted their favourite cuck to prime the SJW pump.

@Charles Kinbote of course it's business. These tards making video after video about her to me come off as desperately trying to make her react or acknowledge them to cash in on the increased number of views to come from it. Seriously it's good on her to not directly respond to them.

I'm so glad I live in Russia, my whole country is basically one big lolcow, but at least we don't have so many people sperging on about this pretty pointless shit like these two sides.

I know, a lot of people probably just went "oh yeah, I completely forgot."
I guess Thunderf00t figured out that he can sell more proverbial popcorn if he lets the videos degenerate into person-to-person shouting match. "Debunking creationism point by point" doesn't sell. "Punchable-faced fundie vs. irritated neckbeard: the eternal shouting match, only on YouTube" puts people on seats.

EDIT- Not to mention the more these nerds tard out and send death threats the more publicity she gets. All things considered this is a pretty sweet gig.

She's not dumb, though. She crowdfunded something like $500,000 for future videos.

She's done nothing, apparently announced she won't do anything, and has just pocketed it and walked off.

I'd call that smart.

And the gamers have no one to blame but themselves. Not that they'll admit it. They'll still assume she's a threat in the end and that she's taking their games away.

I don't know, it doesn't exactly take much to either get money from the types she did or make the typical types to A-Log her upset. The former will throw anything at something that asspats them and the latter will screech endlessly about how evil they are with no shred of dignity.

It was a combination of clickbaiters + trolls. She put up the kickstarter, and it got coverage from clickbaiters and proto-atheism+ types. This attracted trolls, and mathematically speaking, at least one is bound to send hateful shit her way. The trolling/hating became its own story in and of itself much bigger than the original "oh hey there's a kickstarter here". From there, most of the donations were to spite the haters.

I have this pet theory that she painted herself into a corner with her plans. Like maybe she played games when she was a little kid, but stopped right around the SNES or early PSX era. She proposed all the tropes without doing much research (there must be examples of them all, right?). Then when she had piles and piles of money, and an obligation to make all these videos, she found out video games were more progressive than she imagined. This means almost no material to work with, so she slapped together badly cherrypicked examples and hoped nobody would notice. I'm guessing it was very stressful with frequent crashes into slumber, therefore long waits between videos. It created an "emperor has no clothes" situation, where everyone is pretending these are groundbreaking amazing videos because reasons (virtue signalling, social pressure, sunk cost fallacy, etc.) Anyone who does point out that the emperor has no clothes is cast into misogynist shitlord jail, they tell themselves only criminal scum would believe the videos were bad, and the delusion continues.

This might be better suited to Deep Thoughts/Off Topic, but has there ever been a major discussion regarding the publicity people like Thunderf00t/Sargon of Akkad/Etc provide people like Anita? Sargon seems to have a reasonably laid-back attitude towards SJW-types, but Thunderf00t seems to delight in engaging in truly cringe-worthy slap-fights with idiots on a regular basis. I like a lot of his scientific content, but occasionally I just feel like screaming 'Dear god man, will you fucking shut your mouth for five seconds?!' when I see yet another video about how SJW's may be accelerating the heat-death of the universe or something.
