I play harmonica, melodica, and trumpet.
I own several diatonic harmonicas in different keys...most are Hohner Special 20's but I have a Lee Oskar in A Harmonic Minor. Also have a Hohner chromatic harmonica. My melodica is also a Hohner.
Trumpet is a Holton Collegiate T602 from 1970...so it's 20 years older than me!
I do really want to learn to play the Hammond Organ since I love it in progressive rock. That'll definitely be the next instrument I learn. Would like to own a B3 or C3 model but they're pretty pricey, so will probably get a L100 or something while I learn since a lot of people practically give those away for free.
Maybe down the road I'll try and learn tenor banjo for Celtic music too.

Update from my previous post, my family's 1820s Steinway.
T-that looks beautiful. Is it refurbished in any way?

Arabesque #1
Fuck, I don't learn repertoire anymore because I never enjoyed the "learn and perform" cycle, but Arabesque #1 took me such a long time to perfect. For years I always skipped playing this part because I just didn't want to deal:

As far as I am aware no, it has a cracked soundboard that we're trying to preserve as much of the piano as possible while fixing. It is the original as far as my father, who received it as a gift from his old piano teacher in the 70's when they retired, knows.

If you want to ever try another you can try my current project, a 10 minute song called Swan Song. Here's the sheet music: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx4AqQPhfAyGMkdiOFZFT3Z4S3c/edit

And here's the song if you want to take a listen:

I've been taking guitar lessons for a little while now. I currently have a standard steel-stringed guitar, but I'd like to get a nylon-stringed classical eventually; I've always liked the sound of them better.

Love classical guitar. Takes a little getting used to the flat fretboard and wider string spacing, but the string have less tension. Fun isntruments, for sure.

I play electric guitar in a 3 piece band. We do a psychedlic/post-rock take on instrumental surf music. Our second album comes out in a few weeks.

i play a few random instruments
bass guitar, toy accordian (don't ask), glockenspeil...
i also make music for my music box
i also have been making music on the computer for about 10 years now.
i has a bandcamp too.

if you have a question about an album, just ask.
i should label them with genres, but i can't be arsed too.
i don't really know what genres i fall into anyway, i seem to just hop around from one to the next.
so be warned, this is experimental and odd.

That's funny, I recognize the name because you commented on one of my youtube videos. I don't really want to post it here, and you're probably just going to be confused, but it is music related.
i don't use my usual username here because i don't want my friends outside of the forum to know i go here, they'd give me shit for being here.
perhaps we (the forum) could do a colab of sorts. lolcow the album?

I don't remember if I posted here before, but I sing, and know the guitar but have shitty dexterity.

I play guitar but I'm out of practice. I've got a Fender Strat and an Epiphone my uncle gave me, I think it's an ES-335. I've recently gotten into electronic music. I'm not very good at the moment. Right now, I'm just tinkering around with programs like Virtual DJ and FL Studio with my MIDI keyboard and turntable. I hope by the start of school in the fall that I will be a little better. I kind of want to do some mash-ups and crap like that. Here's one I did about 7 years ago in Audacity. It wasn't a difficult mashup since Lupe Fiasco sampled this song, but I thought it was nice to bring a jazzy edge to this song.

I know I have a long ways to go to improve, but I'm actually going to take making music seriously for once and I'd like to see how far I can get before I get busy with school again.

Sup. I can play (with varying levels of proficiency) synth, duduk, dulcimer, marimba, sitar, and drums, and I'm decent at singing. Synths, duduk, and percussion are my favorite.
I don't have any pictures of my gear (never felt the need to take any) and I don't have access to it (I'm in the process of moving, kind of) right now, but I might be post pictures at some point when I can..

Hell of a user name. Ever heard the Kyuss version? Aside from the solo it's faithful to the original.

Thanks! I've always said that if I ever start a band that I have any influence in naming, I want it to be named Into the Void...alas, there's already a band named that. And I haven't, I'll be sure to check it out.

My telecaster cost me $109. I replaced its neck from a strat which was even more expensive.

I've played piano since I was five. I'm not master class level or anything, I have trouble with fingering and rhythm—but I'm at least decent overall, and I'm very good at sight reading. The flip side of that is that I am not experienced at playing by ear, which is a bit of a problem now that I think of it.

It's an Acrosonic that was bought in 2005. Reasonably good piano. I never remember to cover the keys after playing, which has probably contributed to them yellowing a little.

As for other instruments, I played xylophone for the school band in like fifth grade. Mostly I remember that the case always smelled like mildew (dunno why it did) and me dropping the case constantly and having to have others pick it up for me. I also played synthesizer for a music program in my freshman year.

I have always kinda wanted to play a strings instrument, most likely cello, but for various nebulous reasons I never have. My sister played violin (all Chinese kids had to take either violin or piano lessons, it's basically the law) and had a huge clique of friends she met in her orchestra class and that always made me jealous of her. But then that's probably less because of the instrument than because she's always been the outgoing and sociable one whereas I am decidedly not.

I've noticed that that is the case for a lot of people, you can be good at one but almost never both. I rely almost 100% on by-ear learning since my vision makes reading music a right pain in the ass. It's really interesting, if you go up and ask musicians they will almost always say they have trouble in one of the two areas.

ayyy I learned the bleep bloops a few years ago and It's become my second fave ever since, after piano of course.
I too want to learn how to play cello. It's so beautiful but being a beginner sucks and there is the problem with time management since learning and practicing is very time-consuming.

This is autistic as hell, but I've been practicing guitar while high on an indica/sativa blend for a few days now. As a result, I feel much more in tune with my physical motions, and I finally figured out a way to use my thumb as a pick by aiming it with a simple rock of the rotator cuff.

It's natural, it's loud, and I've never had an easier time being fast and precise simultaneously. I recommend giving this technique a try to anyone having trouble with the ergonomics of speed and accuracy in their playing.

If trying; watch out for thumb blisters. I'm speaking from personal experience.
