Considering it goes for about $200 over here, yeah, I think it's a good deal. But you did say you had room, so uh...time to get creative? You didn't really need to take all your clothes back home with you, right?
Oh I already brought an extra duffel bag to use as a carry on with clothes. The issue is that this box is 65cm and my suitcase is 60cm. I didn’t really want to butcher this box but I think that will be the way.
Hopefully I can skim an inch of each end and be done with it. Done, shame about the box but it is what it is.

Looking forward to the gundam tabletop game so that i can use my model kits.

I've been known to dabble in Gunpla.

I painted an Entry Grade Gundam like Sonichu and a Zaku Kai in Megatron's colors.

Went to the Tokyo Gundam place today and picked these up. They were on a stand that said “new” so I presume they’re new out.

And in case anyone was wondering. I’ve ended up buying an extra suitcase and some more baggage allowance for the flight home. No more gunpla for this holiday. The remaining space is dedicated to KitKats and other horrible sweets to give to family/friends and coworkers.

They're pretty new (check the 2024 copyright), just special recolors of the Wing Zero and Epyon, sort of swapping their color schemes (hence what I assume they mean by cross contrast). The wings are translucent as well, so that adds an interesting touch. Definitely worth picking those up while you were there, they have a major scalper upcharge stateside (prices on eBay range from $230-300+ for the pair).

I think you should be more than covered for a while with gunpla, so smuggle back all the candy you can fit.

That’s some serious scalping. I gave $44 for Wing Zero and $42 for Epyon after getting the 10% tax back.
Off to the Tamiya store today for a few bits of tools and no doubt a bunch of 1/64 cars. Not looking forward to dragging all this shit to the airport.

I bought a 30 minute sisters kit. So many extra faces and nothing to attach them to other than this singular wonky backplate (right), eh?

Well, some calipers, a day off, and plenty of 3d printed test runs later and I've got a working backplate alternative! Mostly. The tolerances are less than ideal due to FDM printing. Furthermore, I don't know if I'll do a complete functional replication to make it fully compatible with official accessories, or if I'll model my own accessories and use bespoke attachment points. As for the ears... Eh, they'll get earmuffs, I'm not up to organic modeling.

Recently finished RG God Gundam and gotta say is the most tight model kit ive made. Super posable and the energy rings look sick.

So is this like Bionicles but for adult autists instead of 12 year olds?
As someone who was way into Bionicle back in the day and now builds gunpla, that's more or less accurate. Only major difference is having to cut the pieces off the runners and clean them up yourself, but other than that, same general principle of putting parts together to get a cool robot.

It's a little early, but might as well mention it now: the Shizuoka Hobby Show is coming up later this month, May 14-18, and naturally that means more gunpla announcements. The advertisement lists varying grades, though some of these might be just showing previously announced kits again, like the MGSD Aerial or RG Wing Zero TV. The only thing I'd say is a guarantee is getting a first look at the PGU Nu Gundam.

So, what are you hoping to see announced? I'm holding out hope that that leak pic from a while back is accurate and we get that RG Gundam X announced, as well as more Gundam X HG kits for its upcoming thirtieth anniversary. Longshot hope for more Turn A kits as well; it's still insane to me that there are only three modern kits for that series, and Bandai seems to be allergic to reprinting the MG Turn X.

If this isn't gundam only, i would love tl see more Super Robot Wars kits. If its gundam only, wouldnt mind seeing some RG of some of the build series suits.

I have some model experience and noticed a rise in Mecha Musume kits. I noticed Bandai had their own sets they were doing and was wondering if anyone has put one together ?
