There's one that has been showing up in the markets lately called a Pazazz (?)

Very damn nice apple. I still prefer Honeycrisps for sheer size, but the Pazazz is nice.

Granny Smith and Jazz are my favorites. Kiku's great if you like Fuji (it's a slightly sweeter mutation of Fuji). Envy and Pink Lady are good too. Braeburn would be top tier if it weren't mealy half the time. Red Delicious is only good for creating other cultivars.

Fujii, Honeycrisps and pink ladies are great apples that I can just eat on their own, but if I'm using apples for baking, I'll mix Fujis with green apples like Granny Smith. The tartness lends a lot to pies and cobblers.

I pretty much exclusively eat granny Smith's. I like my apples tart.

Plus selection here is terrible. There'll occasionally be pink lady which I don't mind but generally only golden delicious which are abominable or granny Smith

I don't know if it's a thing but I want to stay at a B&B on an orchard with lots of varieties so I can try a bunch right off the tree. Buxom farmers daughter not a necessity, but an. advantage

Those Cosmic Crisp apples are like 3 dollars an apple.

Supposedly they have a shelf life of 1 year.

They certainly live up to their name. They're not as flavorful as I would like, though (not as bland as Red Delicious, but not as flavorful as, say, Envy). I used them for this year's charoset.

Love me some granny smiths. Largely due to nostalgia. When I was growing up one of my dads friends had a weird hybrid orchard and exotic animal exhibit. The apple trees were right next to the cassowary enclosure, so you could pick apples tale a bite, and then throw them to cassowaries which would swallow them whole.

god i can't even remember the last fucking time i ate an apple. i don't care if they're basic, there is nothing more consistently filling or satisfying to eat than a goddamn fuji apple

I love Pink Ladies. They're a perfect combination of sweet, sour, and tart, and have a wonderfully crisp texture.
McIntoshes deserve an honorable mention, but they're smaller and a bit less flavorful IMO. However, they get points for being cheap in the fall, as well as excellent for cooking.
Granny Smiths are alright, but their sourness is a bit too strong, especially since they're a larger variety of apple. Like the McIntosh however, they're excellent for cooking.
Fujis are alright, but they're just a little too sweet for me.
Red Delicious apples are fucking awful. Do not trust anyonr who says Red Delicious is the best apple. It's way too cloyingly sweet.

Also has anyone tried a cosmic crisp apple? I keep hearing about how it's the apple revolution, but I've never had one. Of course, them being 3 bucks a pop doesn't help.

They got some honey crisps at costoco that are on apple steroids or some shit, think like watermelons

tasty
Honeycrisps are naturally fuck-huge, but fuck-huge fruit, apples in particular, rarely survive transit, CA, post-harvest chemical application, and finally processing/packing. The ones you see in stores are usually only a third, sometimes less, of the size of fuck-huge honeycrisps. I'm talking dinner plate size and bigger.

As for me, my favorite is either Fujis or Honeycrisps. Everything else is a pale imitation or aged out of being good.
