How approximately 40% of my pvp encounters go:

1. I see another player
2. I alert them to my presence with a nice "Hey raider!"
3. They approach me
4. I put a corner between me and them and use the "Don't shoot!" emote
5. They continue approaching
6. I back up behind another corner and hold it
7. They follow me around the second corner
8. I magdump my Stitcher into their torso
9. They curse me out for being a rat while I finish them with my prybar

Are they retarded?

There isn’t much incentive to PvP in solo besides the grief. You can’t carry much by yourself and if there is anything good on them it’s probably in their safe pocket
you follow them to high value locked doors, they open the door, and you kill them immediately, just running and gunning people down is too hit or miss, I stalk high value prey before they can hide the good things in the safe pockets.

The interesting thing I have learned when playing this game is to be able to read the body language of other players.

Just by the way they move around, you can tell if they want to kill you or not.
When you are moving around, and you know that the other player who you know is in your vicinity can hear you than you peak the camera out the blindspot you are hiding at and you see the other player trying to creep closer to your general direction, 85% chance he is trying to find you and kill you.

One time, I went inside a building and another guy seemed friendly since he didn't shoot me the first time, but then for some reason he started hiding behind metal places on a cart from me, I was confused until I realized his intentions when he pulled out a gun and shot me.

Never gonna make that mistake again.

As a general rule, if you see someone creeping closer to you, assume they will kill you.

Inversely, if you see someone else looting something or going about their way in general, do not slowly go near them like you want to jump them or something and just let them do their thing unless you want to make them think you are going to kill me.

I would.

Yeah similar happens to me a lot. If I don't wanna fight I'll let them know but if they hang about I'll waste them because I'm not risking it.

A raider yesterday switched to melee as a peace gesture after I said hi, and we went our separate ways. I think I'll try that in future.

I think my favorite thing to do in this game is yell out "HEY IM FRIENDLY!" then gun down retards when they turn their back to me.

I had a literal Walter Jr. voice yell out "R-really? F-fuck you then" when I did this once.

short sighted and nigger brained.
the real strategy is to befriend a player who's looted good shit, help him out, and convince him that players you are about to encounter tried to kill you, getting you, him, and 1-2 other guys in a gunfight, then you finish off your new friend and get 3 players worth of gear.

I wasted someone doing that, was that you?

I've grown to hate the free loadouts. I feel like bringing loot in is more to show off than to actually be more effective, as the biggest drawback of bringing in just a free kit is low ammo. If you're lucky enough to spawn with a ferro then you can literally bring down any robot other than the queen. People should at least have to navigate the menus to buy a stitcher if they want to rat.

the trick is to kill anyone in the basic cloths and if you can get a good look, one weapon, kill ALL free loadouts on sight, no questions asked.
anyone in game gives you shit tell them that that a free loadout has zero to lose by killing you, me or anyone, and if they say anything negative to that statement, pre-emptively shoot that man too.

Stella Montis.

Ok a Stella Montis loot and danger guide. It's 1-5 scale
Lobby and train lobby: danger 4, loot 5.

Lobby has the most paths to other areas as you expect, so a ton of foot traffic, it has the much fought over Security checkpoint area, going here from 29 min to 20 min will result in a gunfight, has bandage herbs, floor cleaner machines (have valuable mechanical parts) and is generally the best overall loot area, beware snipers on the 2nd and 3rd floor overlooks.

Aperture mechanic area, Danger 5, Loot 5.

The second most dangerous area to be in early timer, for whatever reason the back server rooms has everyone on Kill on Sight mode, easily the best loot in terms of value and need, all the epic Stella drops can and will drop from the white and even yellow tool boxes, in the center there is elevator jack to one of the space tubes, usually a gun case, however you are the most exposed nigga alive doing this, the amount of pops and fireballs is absurd, Night and low power map variants make this a fucking stealth rat nightmare land, get in and get out, do not breach unless you are prepped for ambushes.

Medical, Danger "meet your maker", loot 3.

THE free load out killzone, and it's always bright and white so you stand out, a million nooks for fags to camp and gun you down for thinking it's going to be friendly time, come here only if you really need medical affiliated loot or you want to kill.

Warehouse of the Bastion, Danger 3, Loot 4.

The bread and butter of loot zones, the containers have tons of good shit, the 2nd floor, east side has a breach locker room that no one goes to, however if you and friendlies kill or try and kill the Bastion, murderous men can hide in between containers and strike , extraction here has an issue, almost always there is a good damn shredder, and if it follows you to the terminal there is no cover.

Seed Vault+Archives, Danger 1-2, Loot 2-4.

Basically no one goes here, the archive can have a butt load of shredders, the seed Vault is just ticks, the seed Vault seems bugged, most containers have 1 seed each, Archives have a ton of cloth and sellables, tons of cover for fighting.

ROver sandpit, Danger 3, Loot 3.

Shredders! Very few players! The rovers have great loot but nothing else does, THE place to lure grenade shredders at tards

Pros and Cons about the game (from someone with like 5 hours)
Pros:
  • Very nice looking, animations are impressively smooth and move from one action to another in a way I think I’ve only really seen done with that Death Stranding sloppa.
  • Sound design is excellent.
  • Runs pretty well on my Xbox.
  • Fun gameplay and fighting, interactions can be very fun and intense. Robots are challenging and rewarding to kill at all levels (that I had experienced). Their weaknesses are telegraphed very well and it’s rewarding to experiment with what kills them best.
  • Lots of tools to play with- traps, bombs and utilities are fun and make you try to develop a plan.
  • Guns (except for the rattler which is lame) feel and sound great. Robots have nice responses and different guns are useful against different enemies.
Cons:
  • Ugly DEI character design. I didn’t even look at this game until I saw a YouTuber (because I am a sheep) because I thought it was Concord. There have been like 6 games in the past year that came out and advertise themselves indistinguishably from one another. Annoying girlbossing and blackbossing. Fruity robot. I have skipped any story so far.
  • I think there are a lot of recycled animations. When my character runs with the kettler (I think it’s that gun) it’s almost the exact run cycle as Battlefront 3 with the E-11. I suspect there are more, and I guess it’s not a big deal to save time on some animations to work on more crucial parts of the game, but it bugs me.
  • There has been this gay ass friendly culture fostered in some areas. You’re expected to not shoot anyone in pretty much any map but the robot lab complex, and people act like they’ve had their life ruined when you do. They don’t understand that PvP is on because it’s fun to rat people. I foresee excellent trolling videos on their way since proximity chat is on.
  • The “humor” in the game is extremely Redditcore and annoying (I’m thinking of the loading screens) and I feel like that’s part of where the cringe friendly atmosphere is coming from.
I’m sure there’s other things but this is what I’ve thought of so far. Overall it’s pretty fun, I think there needs to be more to do because I see the excitement running dry soon without an overarching goal but the game just came out so I won’t hold it again them.

the Traders don't matter, and neither does the story, even still, they don't really interject much beyond stated goals for you to go and do once your in the field, Lance is the only character who particularly jokes, and is the only one even remotely close to entertaining (the Android), the rest are dry beyond Celestes obsession with seeds/growing shit.

the Security bitch is hardly "girlbossing" she's just some paranoid security fucker, her dumb hat and dumb glasses are worthy of ridicule though.
I honestly forget Apollo exists, not that he says much or does much beyond "buy my bombs".

Which is funny because on the one hand you have the hyperaggressive freebie rats who will naruto run across the entire map to shoot you in the back and take your Anvil and medium shield, and then on the other hand you have the "Its about being a decent fucking person" redditors who think using proximity chat disables PVP mode. Makes player interactions feel kinda schizophrenic.

The Speranza public announcements are pure "erm, actually" reddit-tier snark.

Arc Raiders is proof positive that all the DEI stuff doesn't matter (or stands out much less) if the actual game product is high quality and fun to play. That's not to say that the game is brimming with it but its there in small doses. Basic small things like the now standard body type A and B stuff in the character select screen. I think this stuff is so standard now no youtuber bothers making a video on it now. In this case the gameplay and action are fun and has given people something to talk about instead of that other crap.

I dont know as time goes on we might have to recover birth control for the women of speranza or discover that a white CIS het male invented the ARCs to hunt down LGBTQ individuals but honestly I dont think embark studios is going to go that direction. Remember these seem to be all the competent people that worked on Battlefied and left DICE to do their own thing, I dont doubt they are woke or liberal but they seem pretty dedicated to making a fun well realized world with a lot of care put into it and I dont think they want to destroy the cool air of mystery and atmosphere the game has. Which imo is a key part of its success. Plus none of current year politics really makes sense to be in this games setting and lore. I can see a pride flag or something showing up in the Finals but would they really do something like that for this game?

Sunk 20 hours into the game and it's been pretty fun. I think once I realized what it is I want to work toward, the looting aspect has been more enjoyable. I do have some gripes I hope they address in the future.

1. I'd love to see more "hands on" loot if that makes sense. Loot that you can use outside of weapons or gadgets. More of the silly fun shit like the flute or maybe some form of cosmetic you can wear. Right now a majority of the loot is crafting materials and that has made looting pretty boring for me. Sometimes you find a sweet weapon, but it's very rare and most of the time you're looting PNGs of literal junk.

2. The PvP is really fun and I don't mind losing my items, but it does suck having to manually re-equip everything back into your slots when you die. Especially if you take time thinking about what you need and then end up dying in seconds from players after spawning. I'd love the option to save a custom loadout you can quickly apply to speed this part up. If you don't have all the resources in the loadout, then it only equips what you have. I think this would help some players stop bitching when getting killed too as it speeds up the time to get back into the game.
