archive.is is being seized by the FBI.

Where's the part where it says the site is going to be seized? And what's stopping the owners from just moving everything elsewhere or dropping a torrent of their entire database?

The article only says that it might have something to do with copyright issues or shady funding or them possibly being Russian.
fwiw, I have noticed archive.is and its mirrors make connections to mail.ru for some script or whatever (I never cared to look; I just block it).

I know some people in the pirate archive scene. I might see if they can shed some light on this situation overall.

Some friend(s) of the administration complained about copyright, probably.
Not just copyright. (((Certain someones))) want to evade accountability for the shit they publish.

ARCHIVE.PH SUPREMACY
I know this is a joke, but I’d just like to mention that’s just a mirror domain

Well, time to get paranoid and waste my entire night jackhammering old 8chan domains to archive the archived pages before a ton of old history gets wiped because a bunch of shitty dying newspaper empires want their ad revenue.
What is beyond depressing is that archive.today is the only place where fragments of 8ch survive today.

Archive.is and wayback machine hasn't been working which is fustrating because I was going to use it for article research and archiving articles and pages I found for posting here.
I don't know 100% about recently but I've noticed that archive.today has been aggressively blocking VPNs. I haven't been able to reliably connect to it for months without turning mine off.

God I hate DMCA and the FBI. I'm sure this is probably either because of a rich tranny trying to do a gigaDMCA with fed contacts, or an actual DMCA from some shitty newspaper or broadcaster.
NVM, the feds claim CSAM.

Something fishy going on with these archives and Streetshitter Bureau of Investigations.
Maybe this is the reason Ghostarchive has been fucking useless for me in the past week or two. Or maybe I'm just paranoid and the two things are unrelated and pure coincidence 🤔

Thank you Kash Patel. We will surely make it to Valhalla by erasing over a decade of internet history and removing evidence used in actual court cases.

:semperfidelis:I LOVE my Government

When I saw the feature, I was panicking a lot. I fucking hate when glowies/net-terrorists set digital libraries ablaze for retarded shit.

I hate when hundreds of media and information gets burned forever because a single copyright violation or whatever. You can never get those things back, there are probably only one copy of those things in existence.

Apparently, its because some crook seriously tried to archive CSAM on Archive.is and has been spotted doing it. It most likely the maintainers got a subpoena to work or be questioned by law enforcement. Not anything to do with copyright, wrongthink or anything else I can think of.

So, pretty sure no seizure is going to happen, just that the site is being monitored by the feds. But, who knows whats going to happen.
Good ending: CSAM owner gets cuffed and nothing happens to the archive.
Bad ending: The maintainers have something to do with / or responsible of the distribution and site gets knocked off/seized.

We should at least start looking into making backups for Archive.is due to the government now having knowledge of it and they can easily be targeted again.

The Internet truly is becoming a hellhole. The powers that be won’t rest until every last bit of freedom is removed from the internet and becomes nothing more than a tool to serve people endless ads and scams.
