They're not the same, it's just that Jesus comes from God, so Jesus is God by that virtue. Jesus is the connection through which the Word is spread among the non-Jewish peoples.
God is the great judge that will judge humanity in the arrival of the Coming Kingdom, the judgement will based on whether you believe in Him or not, other aspects are sort of secondary. It might seem harsh, but just as the people in Hell are no longer the same they were when they were alive, so too the people who are going to be in Heaven. It's a transcendental existence, one where God is no longer a part of you, the other where you are a part of God.
