The entire premise that more guns equal more crime isn't true. Especially not if you adjust per Capita in nations. the US should be judged more accordingly to Brazil, Mexico or even Columbia. The country has a special mix of ethnic diversity and religiosity that encourages violence. we only see this strain in sub Saharan Africa and Latin America with the US to a lesser degree.
As someone who has lived in Mexico gun control is a pain for law abiding citizens meanwhile cartels often get equipment nicer then the government.
I mean why don't we stop treating these people as mentally ill and have a conservation about fixing the society. banning guns is just going to remove the check against authoritarian government.
