Based on his other articles, he sounds like he's still buttmad that people were incorrectly fed the line "you won't catch covid if you get vaccinated".

No serious health body has said that for a very long time. It was the hope when the vaccines first rolled out, but expectations were revised in the face of data - go figure, that's how the scientific method works.
