Are you getting the vaccine? - Absolute trashfire thread, please enter with caution

I got my first shot on Monday need a second in a month. Really it wasn't my idea though. I wanted to hold out as long as I could and only get if the whole vaccine passport thing started interfering with my life.

No I got the vacc because of my ma. She was worried about me and my brothers cause ones an emt and I work on food service and take a lot of public transportation. She more OT less made me get so she could stop worrying so much. I love my ma even as a grown man so.... I did it for her more than myself.

Once again, why are we all in a panic over a virus that has little to no dangerous effect to literally 99% of the population?
Speaking of, has there been any real evidence that Covid in younger and healthier populations commonly causes severe organ damage or some of the other scarier "I survived, but my body is fucked up now" claims? That's where the media and medical professionals have been getting to me, but I can't tell if it's hyperbole (or an outright lie); otherwise I truly wouldn't care about this shit at all.

I encourage parents to get their kids vaccinated against measles, TB, whooping cough, influenza in younger kids; otherwise children are the last group we should be using as guinea pigs over a disease that statistically affects them the least.
Good thing no one cares about what a guy who lies about being a biologist on the internet thinks.

A real biologist would know how important everyone getting vaccinated is for herd immunity and that it would still prevent those children from spreading it to others (i.e. herd immunity since you don't know what it is)

Bharat said 20-30 percent of people who come down with the virus end up having some lung damage, including people who were asymptomatic, so the screening for the suitability of lungs is important to avoid a bad outcome.

Think there were similar statistics about other organs like the heart but I can't seem to find them now. Even in people who were asymptomatic. So be careful even if you're healthy, this is serious stuff.

Not really, no. Especially not in younger populations.
Notorious science-denying conspiracy theorist (/sarc) Dr. Sebastian Rushworth, M.D., did a decent job explaining the plausibility of "Long COVID" and TL;DR: its a bunch of factors including post-viral fatigue and maybe post-traumatic stress IF you were actually hospitalized: https://sebastianrushworth.com/2020/11/17/what-is-long-covid/

He also pointed out the study that showed "66% of COVID survivors have organ damage" used no control group (i.e. they didn't look at organs of people who never tested positive), nor did they account for demographic bias (young vs old) or severity bias (asymptomatic vs mild vs severe).

Because unhealthy boomers are in the highest risk group and our leaders are mostly unhealthy boomers.
Which is still only 1% of the whole population....

Which begs the question; Why are we not promoting healthier living instead?

wow.. you're fucking retarded

Personally I am not getting the vaccine because I have no need to get it. On top of that, rather take my chances with the coof opposed to something that hasn't completed proper clinical trials. All we could know is that it is as effective as sugar water, with the botched statistics these days. If you want to get it, freedom of choice, and I hope that the jab works out. I know some people in my personal life that have gotten it and haven't really heard anything out of the ordinary happen to them. Though, WHO fucking knows at this point.

Allow me to entertain a different question. Why would one willingly let himself be injected with a concoction of which he knows not? Why should we take on faith the word of government experts and mainstream media and not hold them to the same empirical standards as everyone else? If these vaccines were truly safe why are the manufacturers shielded from liability? Why do so many, after getting their dose, suffer adverse reactions if not outright die afterwards?

I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but these vaccines - They have a lot of red flags, and I don't hope to stay in my country before they mandate that I play russian roulette with my immune system to travel either internationally or worse domestically. I have no interest in taking part in a Soviet-style internal passport system, nor do intend to stay to see firsthand how shit hits the fan here.

I already got both doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The 1st dose was fine with no side effects, on the 2nd dose I only got fever and headache but that went away quickly. Currently, I have to wait for a 2 - 3 week period for the vaccine to settle then I'll be fine. for now...

I'll also say that the only reason why I was able to get it was that they were making it where if your family member is a nurse or doctor you are eligible for the vaccine. So by then, I had to get it because one of my family members is a nurse, and just so I can get it out of the way not to worry about not getting it this year.
