And so do Coronaviruses, so what's your point?
As were mine. Some of the viruses listed are exponentially more lethal, others don't even affect primates.
What's your fucking point? What does listing random viruses prove?
Given that you were the one to invoke Dunning-Kreuger, the irony here is rich enough to buy out every beachfront property in Malibu.
Also respiratory viruses have been around for longer than that. Mammalian respiratory viruses have been around almost as long as there have been mammals, yet life goes on. I'd go off into the usual Darwinian diatribe about how the fit will survive and the unfit will either perish or neuter their lineages, but COVID's lethality rate is so low that it couldn't even hope to exert selective pressure (
and that's to say nothing of H. sapiens population growth rate).

The "Common Cold" is made primarily of Rhinoviruses, such Rhinoviruses can:
Cause fatal viral pneumonia and require mechanical ventilation
Cause COPD and other pulmonary abnormalities
Cause significant mortality in older adults
Rhinoviruses are actually more often responsible for viral pneumonia in children than influenza or human coronaviruses
At least if you're going to doompost get your fucking facts straight before calling others idiots.
Respiratory viruses can fuck you up and have been around since the evolution of the vertebrate respiratory tract; but please keep chimping how COVID is something special, new and scary unlike anything
H. sapiens or our ancestors have ever seen.
