> +18 lobbies in a fucking fishing game
I knew this game was faggot slop as soon as I saw some youtubers play it but holy shit I did not think it was this bad, these niggers are so terminally addicted to porn they have to bring it into everything they touch, also multiplayer games have been perfected for like what 15 years? and this furtroon dev cant even implement basic password protection for online/solo lobbies properly? lmao

A charitable take would be that adults just want to talk about adult things (not strictly sex) without kids present because kids are annoying since that's what 18+ lobbies are supposed to be on chat platforms. In practice that's not how they're usually used.

I fail to see how this is some fundamental issue with the game though when AOL, ICQ, MOONBASE, and all other lightly moderated platforms have had this issue forever. If a game or platform has a chat feature than bad people are going to use it, no exception.

One thing I did find weird about the chat was that it seemed to be location based. When I played people were talking about where they were from and they were all from within about 250 miles of me. Surely that wasn't just a coincidence?

The minimum the dev could do would be hide 18+ lobbies by default and make the option to enable them less obvious. A password feature doesn't change anything because the sketchy users don't use them.

It was the one thing I found weird, everything else was just standard chatroom nonsense like back in the old internet days and some stale memes.

If the chat actually is region based that gives a lot of credence to the people claiming it's being used primarily by questionable people targeting kids. The fact that all (most?) of the people in the chat were talking about being places within driving distance was...unsettling.

If you're afraid I am implying you are a pedo, no. Theres no evidence and frankly I don't think you are.

However, what I am saying that you are biased and are downplaying the games flaws because it pretains to your fandom. Correct me if I am wrong.

The games flaws:
  • Me, not a hacker, has seen the server exploits and can recreate entering other users "locked" servers trough a pirated copy.
  • Gender affirming gay talk bs meant to appeal to a very specific type of crowd (personal gripe, you seem not to have that issue)
  • Kids have been caught and counting entering 18+ servers. Being that its a furry game, its sexual. Deny it, but its sexual. Furries are very sexual since its inception. Look into your heart, you know this to be true.

I'm not naive that teenagers are curious about adult topics. It's one thing to talk amongst peers about such topics. As opposed to joining a hystronic server of primarily non nerd adult furries who are going to talk about knots. Not saying they do this intentionally, but probability says its happening. Because in this fandom sex is funny.

If you think this game is not going to become a ERP haven. You are naive or covering.

  • Games have bugs and I think expecting a small time dev who made what was an itch.io game to be a good developer is unrealistic. I wouldn't be surprised if the dev doesn't even know how to debug and fix the networking issues.
  • I'm glad you acknowledge that's a personal gripe because it isn't an inherent game issue. The game is clearly targeting a small niche of so called "gaymers", the same type who raved about the recent Animal crossing game (obvious based on art style)
  • 18+ servers are obviously sexual most of the time regardless of game, but I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt. Additionally I'm not sure how the developer could even prevent kids from finding those lobbies since kids and adults interacting is an issue in any game with a chat feature. That last bit is why I don't think it's fair to call it a grooming game, it's a universal issue with chat platforms on the internet, even on extremely well moderated ones.
My main argument comes down to the fact none of the criticisms about this game are unique to it, save for the technical ones. Bigger games and platforms can't prevent the mingling of adults and children even when employing full moderation teams. I think this small indie game is being unfairly dragged though the mud (often with no hint let alone proof of malice) over issues that are fundamentally difficult to deal with.

What I'm curious of is how do you purpose this problem gets solved? Should game developers or Steam be verifying government IDs? Should parents be doing better at monitoring their kids online? Should all games simply have chat features removed? I honestly don't know what the solution is, but I suspect you have some ideas.

Again I like to give the benefit of the doubt and not assume the worst. If the developer had chat logs leaked tomorrow proving beyond a doubt they were a pedophile I would completely disavow them, the game itself, and assume they had bad intent the entire time.

The biggest issue posed by this game is the fact that in targeting the LGBT community LGBT youth are going to gravitate to it regardless of the dev's intent. LGBT youth are typically more vulnerable than other youths and bad people will flock to anywhere they can find vulnerable people. How do you solve this? Again I don't know, but it's not a problem unique to this game.

I'm not the one you should be asking that. I didn't make the game.

I didn't make the game that knowingly appeals to vulnerable and/or broken people. Part of ending the cycle of abuse is to look to the past and asses problems, then move forward not making the same mistakes. I am not going to brainstorm technical and psychological solutions for free. If the dev pays me then thats a different story.

Thats your decision and it doesn't make you more or less sus. From personal experience and basic pattern recognition I see where this is going.

"There is more to this story than what it seems."

The cycle of abuse is already happening. The dev probably is not complicit in whatever happened, but is naive and inexperienced. This is a car crash in slow motion.

I asked more broadly about games with chat systems in general. I find it difficult to believe you don't have ideas on possible solutions.

So can no media ever target LGBT people as a group? Are you sure you aren't just mostly projecting your hate of LGBT people?

I expected a good faith and intelligent reply and didn't get it. Unfortunate, but expected.

I was replying in between work so it's not detailed, nor do I owe you solutions. You resulted to insults because you are projecting your self hatered. This goes both ways.

I don't hate homosexuals. I hate faggots like you.

You won’t get deep thoughtful conversactions about lgbt stuff here at all.

Completely uncalled for, you don't know me and criticizing how you responded is far from an insult.

Faggot or not at least I'm not a retarded nigger. There's an insult for you.
@Vibe_Guy how much you want to bet buddy right here is some gooner who's taking offense that his recent addition to his "tax folder" is getting called out :smug: ?

@Vibe_Guy Please see my discussion with this user in another thread where they defend this game. Take particular note of their affinity for spined cat dick. I believe you will find it relevant.
