For the Grumps' 7th anniversary, they've decided to celebrate it with a $30 pin on their store. No real special videos for it, no new announcements: just an expensive pin on Twitter.
Now unlike their other pins, this one has one key difference: you can spin it to swap the Grumps' faces, which is kinda cool? ...Things made of cheap material though, so good luck if the paint chips or it gets stuck, but it's definitely better than the Starbomb pin from awhile back, not that that's saying much.

Also instead of being made in-house by Krooked Glasses, the person who made these is Vanduobones: a freelancer. ...Which is incredibly strange given Vanduobones' style is really, really similar to Krooked's, to the point where I'm wondering why they chose some other Twitter artist, but that's neither here nor there.

“And now for a limited time, new Arin and Jon retro throwback pin!”
ONE DAY LATER
“Hey everyone, this is Arin. We’re really sorry for that pin fiasco, our entire marketing team has been fired. Just to be clear, I was not made aware of the pin with that problematic individual.”

Why do Game Grumps think enamel pins are as valuable as gold? Like I know they wanna milk their paypigs of a fanbase for all their worth but... Never mind, I just answered my own question

I loved the JonTron era of Game Grumps, but yeah, the new people just don't play off each other at all and Arin is boring as fuck.

going through the replies to the announcement tweet, the few times i saw someone mention the pricepoint as a negative they were instantly shut down with "gotta pay the artist" or "but its limited run" as if that justifies a 30$ enamel pin commemorating arin doing the exact same shit for 7 years.

Also it's about three months late.

I'm guessing the only reason why they didn't wait until 10 years to release such a commemorative pin is because they don't think the Game Grumps will survive another 3 years. That or they want money which is probably more likely

Regarding that "artists need to get paid" argument, I've seen artist-made pins for a 3rd of that price and even less, but I'm guessing the fans legitimately think they're going to pay 30$ to the artist for each sold unit.

They had at least decent looking merch comissioned to other artists before, not gonna lie. The shirt on the photo below is not that bad (and iirc it barely features Arin and Dan), and the artist went to the old office even:

I do hope she was paid accordingly and on time though.

Sponsored by KFC and Magic: The Gathering.

Guess signing up with CAA is paying off.

This has provably been discussed but with the Game Grumps 7th anniversary, do any of you think Jon ever looks at the GG channel and feels something sad inside him?

No, because he probably ditched for the reason of Arin's money grubbing and burning tendencies. Just look at how they handle their shows.

Danny knows how to wear a suit, albeit a little wrinkled.

But Arin...wtf Arin. What the fuck is up with the checkered blue? He looks like a clown.

I'm late/necroing, but I think the suit, suits him. About 10 pages back when people were talking about his voice ability and how it's easy to spot his voice, I felt his voice was perfect for the host in Ross's Gamer Tonight series. The other place his voice would be applicable is being a shady second-hand car salesman... and it's obvious he can dress for that as well.

Honestly he almost certainly does, almost everyone misses a old friend and hobby so long as it didn't end in catastrophe which him leaving game grumps didn't, but that doesn't mean he ever wants to go back

I mean if you looked at Jon now you'd think he never was on the show. He's distances himself from gaming videos pretty hard.

Being burned by large groups in the gaming community would do it and it's also a career dead end, for him especially. We've already mentioned enough times in this thread that Jon shits on GG's numbers.
