Fair point, but so was Suzy, but at least she never got this much attention on the show and controlled this much; at best, she was their "secretary" or some shit. Her drama for the most part was always stuff that happened outside of the show, or was at least somewhat contained. Now I'm just sitting here wondering what exactly happened between then and now where his new Yoko Ono employee is both front-and-center (despite everyone saying how much they hate her and despite Grumps still somehow being terrible at ACTUAL communication), and somehow is able to simultaneously be a social media manager, a producer, a director, a person who picks out their games, an honorary third Grump, a director, and a writer on all of their current projects, and fail and all of this in less than three months.
I know why it's happening, doesn't make these decisions any less confusing. Like Arin's only listening and following her advice out of spite.
I think there's a combination of factors at play in the difference between how Suzy was handled and how Allie's being handled:
- Arin openly detests the fanbase now when he used to not, the Phoenix Wright finale put the final nail in that. I think it's possible that when the fanbase was against Suzy, Arin took that to heart and phased her out a bit. Now he doesn't give enough of a shit to change in response to criticism.
- Suzy may have been a bit more hurt and stepped out on her own. She's made it pretty clear she doesn't like how hateful the fanbase was towards her when she was more involved, and she may have personally made the decision to stop being as big a part of Grumps.
- Allie is an actual employee, while I'm not certain Suzy ever really was. It's possible she was properly on payroll during that short period of time around GrumpCade where she was a "Grump" on the same level as Barry, but for most of the history of Game Grumps, she's just been "Arin's wife/girlfriend." Allie has a job title and a salary and all of the responsibilities that come with that.
