What assholes.

EDIT: Holy shit, there's actually people telling them they should stop making a stink and should feel grateful that the Grumps stole their art.
The fuck man, how can people be this continuously dense!?

What floors me is that the artist was willing to let them continue using the art, free of charge - and only asked to be credited for the work, in return. And they couldn't even give her that much?

I honestly believe if she was a wel known artist - with thousands of followers - they would have handled this situation more professionally. But, because she's virtually unknown, she's not worth their time.

Guys they did it: they finally learned how to avoid plagirism

The title, though - does it actually have anything to do with the content of rhe video; or is this Ben/The Grumps low key shade at their critics for being upset withe them over how they handled the previous thumbnail fiasco?
Yes actually, it does have to do with the content of the video, as this was a reupload of the VOD from Arin's Chrono Trigger solo stream.

...From three months ago.

It could very well be him throwing low-key shade, but doing it on a thumbnail that showcases how far behind he is seems like an exceptionally bad idea.

I'll actually give people that they didn't outright steal the art, they merely took it from a skeevy source. If they handled this better, it wouldn't be an issue at all and it's kinda mindboggling that they didn't just contact the artist and gave credit, that would have easily turned this into a net positive for everyone involved. Maybe commission the artist to do a future thumbnail for them to really milk it. Really shows how out of touch they are with the creative community.

I'm curious about the history between oney and arin. When did it start? How did it end and why ?
Oney and Arin met on NG, they were both aspiring animators at the time. Nobody really knows how it ended, but it's speculated it had to do with the whole retarded Dream Daddy fiasco where Ding Dong and Julian ended up getting excommunicated because they spoke up about DD feeling like it's just shallow pandering, and Oney stuck with them over the Gaym Groomps.

It honestly looks like it comes down to sharing their audience with someone else. ('free' art from an unknown source means they don't have to share any profits. Acknowledging the artist - even if they don't have to pay the artist for th work - means their fans might give their money to someone other than the Grumps.

And that is just unacceptable in the eyes of Arin Hanson.

That and Oney and Ding Dong and Julian weren't being paid. It was also Arin's shitty attitude in general. The Twitter post Arin made shitting on NewGrounds is what made everything public.

This debacle reminds me of when Vizzie Pop was caught tracing anime for Hazbin Hotel and her fans ran to her defense claiming she was “stressed out and in a bad head space.”
Once someone gets a cult who will love and financially support them despite the quality of the work, they can do no wrong. It’s fascinating to examine in all honesty

Sorry to slightly derail, but I finished watching JacksFilms' Kidzbop Quiz 2 video and I noticed 2 things:

1- Arin is the only one of the participants who had his recording session done alone with Jack, all the other guests were in groups. He is also the only IRL guest that doesn't seem to be in Jack's house, while all the other people who met up with Jack IRL seem to be sitting in the same lounge in his house. My guess is that they recorded his bit in the Grumps office?
Now I'm not good at insane tinfoil conspiracy theories, so I'm not saying it means anything, but I thought it was curious.

2- This is, again, probably nothing, but around the 12 minute mark Jack jokingly says "It's called brand awareness-maybe look into it" when talking about a Kids Bop lyric that namedrops their own name. Now after reading this whole thread and watching Arin fuck up his marketing and shit up his "brand" with his awful ideas, I find it hilarious to imagine that Jack is throwing massive shade at him, even though I'm most likely looking into it too hard.

call it "hilarious in hindsight", the video was filmed nearly a year before all that weird crap happened at game grumps.

more like excommunigayted haha
I think the whole situation can also be summarized as the cliche LA consooming Arin, a previously really genuine and talented guy slowly transforms into an incredibly egotistical, shallow, thinskinned lizard man. This is opposed to people like Jon (as in tron), whos fame and success doesn't appear to rot his character or make him abandon his less popular friends.

When did this happen? I know it's not exactly on topic, but did she literally trace anime or did she just draw too much inspiration from a reference? I have to admit, I feel a little anxious for her, despite the potential her series has I have a caveman-like intuition that there will be a horrific implosion incoming.

Arin's always been a spastic with a massive ego. All that has changed is that he is lazy and complacent due to all the money.

I wouldn't really doubt her inevitable implosion. This is the same chick who after releasing her "pilot", which got over 20 million views with extremely positive audience reaction even by Youtube animation standards (and most importantly loads more patreon gibs), still got absolutely tilted when an ultra small minority of twitter tards criticized her work. She simply doesn't have the will to helm this thing.

Late on the stolen art fiasco but all this does is confirm how delusional and blind the lovelies are. I haven't watched a GG video in probably over a year and they used to be a must watch for me. You can tell they don't give a shit about the fan base and it's all talk. It would have been an equal amount of time for them to respond to a single email and plop a link in their description then it would have been to edit and reupload the thumbnail. But one option would entail them giving a shit.

They still have Ben as an editor? I take it he's still doing a shit job? Did he at least get better and stop putting in weird sounds and jokes?

Well, L.A. has a way of revealing someone's true character rather than turning them into a monster.

To be entirely honest I really don't understand the adoration for Hazbin/Helluva, both shows came off as pretty unremarkable. Many of the designs feel like regurgitated edgy deviant art/tumblr ocs and the writing felt incredibly forced and lacking wit/sharpness.
As someone that's never produced an animated pilot that's easy for me to say - point is, it's not for me and I don't understand the appeal, but she's clearly a talented girl and I'd really hate to see her destroy herself.

I'm not much for chauvinism and I don't want to overassume, but her behaviour reminds me a lot of what it was like to work with girls on school projects back in highschool and college. Prone to panic, takes criticism personally, and attempts at decisiveness/assertiveness are always hollow. I don't know - it's just a thought, men often behave equally stupid, just in different ways.

I don’t have the actual gif on me, just that comparison image, but the gif itself is more damning, what you don’t see in the image is that the anatomy in motion does not match the body of heady, but syncs up perfectly with the Me Me Me dance, the character’s arms clip through the horns, she’s missing an eye when the character normally doesn’t, and the ears move like the Me Me Me character instead of matching the body. This has never been addressed publicly, but it’s pretty blatant tracing masked as a reference. It was a decent sized controversy that her fans buried by claiming “unless you have 100% proof, it can’t be called tracing”

Out of all things to trace, you'd think she'd pick something that had less of an impact. Me Me Me is just too visually striking to be copied wholesale without anyone noticing.
