That’s not that bad. It’s still tracing, but it was probably intended to be a visual homage.

found a Tumblr page defending her against dozens of accusations, most are retarded garbage I.E. accusing her of racism, sexism, etc.

Apparently, she claimed it as an "homage," which is fine if true. Defending her with the Steven Universe frame is batshit, as the Steven Universe looks far more like what an homage should look like and makes Vivzie's animation more suspect.

I'm not an animator, and I don't know the full story behind this, but I don't feel like the picture is literally traced, just heavily referenced. For the purposes of an homage, I think it's fine; but like I said, I don't know enough to judge her as a plagarist.

edit: I posted too soon, aspects like the horn clipping through the arms is really bizarre and might lead someone to think the body's traced - but I'm personally leaning towards laziness rather than a trace.

I’ve seen the “it’s a homage!” excuse for obvious animation frame tracing, before. It’s a lazy defense, really.

Weirdly enough, she's currently working with Tomar and Veronica (Oney's GF) for her future ventures. I don't follow her much on social media, but she seems like a tamer, more tolerable version of Sam Fennah (minus the delusions of competing against Disney). At least I hope the Hazbin Hotel/Helluvaboss craze ends up being just a fad like Villanous, even the character designs are kind of similar.

I'm guessing either Arin had some space to spare the recording or he's not really comfortable with collaborating with people he barely knows. I recall he always had some sort of contact with the people he invited on the show, or at least with their agents when it comes to celebrities. He also barely appears in other people's videos nowadays. It's like he's determined to get that sweet LA cred without giving a fuck about who's cut out of his circle.

The only way I could see a problem is if the character itself was identical to what it was traced from. Raising a stink over a pose, though?

Tracing a pose is sheer laziness - but, if effort is put into making the character themselves look completely different from the source, what's the issue?

Apparent (according to a redditor claiming to be the artist's spouse), Arin got in touch (Arin claimed the delay on his end was due to him being 'out of town') and the Grumps will be making a tweet in regards to this fiasco (the reason given for why the artist hasn't updated their Twitter about it, yet.

Honestly that sounds more like damage control from Arin not saying anything about it until someone pointed out he hasn't said anything, but probably is Arin being a lazy sack of shit that procrastinated responding.

So, they expect us to believe that the grumps don’t have anyone in the office to handle big affairs of any kind, or that Arin isn’t on his phone 24/7 even when out of town? This excuse actually makes them look more incompetent as a “entertainment company” than they already were

I think I have an idea why they made such a drastic change towards the Thumbnails. If you check the Grumps Social blade at this time they were at an all time low in subs AND views; The dip started around August, yet they're slowly digging themselves out of the hole they evidently put themselves into (they had like three controversy back to back, as well as outside influences like TIHYDP being better than the original series). But keep this in mind next time GameGrumps decide to alter another longstanding trend, it may be an attempt to increase views or subs. Something tells me SJG was an extra stab at a seemingly easy jackpot, however Arin's (and the GG crews') incompetence at promoting this game mostly caused ire and ambivalence amongst the lovelies.

I find it interesting that a lot of those titles say "I try this thing" instead of "WE try this thing" or even "ARIN tries this thing".
Considering this is a """company""", he really likes to emphasize who the channel is REALLY all about.

I am not surprised that a former animator who used to condemn let's plays is now exploiting other artists for his own let's play channel. Well, it's more ironic and sad than anything....
 
Just goes to show that JonTron casting Arin as Darth Vader in the last StarCade episode was both prophetic and insightful.

Isn't it kind of strange how nobody at the Grumps office is good at their job? The hosts suck, Allie sucks, Ben sucks...you'd think that one of them would at least be accidentally competent from time to time.

They had employees who knew how to do their jobs; but, they left for better things. Folks like Jontron, Hannah (the woman who used to produce the early 10MPH episodes), Barry (the only real editor they had). It's funny how these people are also never mentioned by either Grump since they left the scene.
