It wouldn't be surprising if the conversion actually got fucked up in the process and they didn't bother to check despite being released like, what, 2 months after the announcement?

But hey, at least the book got raving reviews from prestigious sources:

Oh God, philosophy? Does this mean he's written in a really bad comparison, like when he compared sucking at games to failing at making toast? That's the extent of Arin's philosophy

Read the prologue and part of the first chapter. Got bored quickly so definitely not my bag, but it's totally something I would have enjoyed as like, an eight year old, in the vein of Nancy Drew. If he had an editor or a co-writer it's not a terrible concept. Execution is bootyass from what's already released. Biggest sin is that it's typical.
I think at it's core the concept he's trying to do is just okay and in general should stay like that. It's the advertising and social ineptness that caused something what would be "Just okay" to either be "LMAO AMAZING" or "What a cunt" reactionwise pending on your vibes to the formers

I do find it vexxing that he baited everyone with the Amazon preorders and then immediately rolled back on his own personal site due to to it being signed. Like dude just straight up led everyone into preordering the book months before it came out to then bait and switch with his own signed version.

I hate the "lovelies". I forgot /polygrumps was a thing, they made porn off the Ross/holly/Jared thing.

Wow, didn't know the "lovlies" had it in em. Despite Ross being the most sympathetic and someone I genuinely hope finds more success. The whole "we wanted to live in different states, so we divorced" narrative he was throwing out was one of the most blatant lies I have ever seen (and quite frankly a beta male move).

****WARNING: SPOILERS FOR GHOST HUNTERS ADVENTURE CLUB AHEAD****
It's Vernon Shaw and I think I have the evidence to back it up. Or at least a lot of very convincing evidence that points in his direction:
Just to be 100% clear: No, I'm not saying that Vernon is telling Arin how to portray Cecil, or that Vernon is writing Cecil's lines or tweets.

But I distinctly remember Vernon getting a ton of hate from a lot of fans that seemed to get to him a lot. I don't remember in which context, but I'm also pretty sure Arin mentioned to Dan, or the other way around, that Vernon didn't feel the GG fans liked him so he didn't want to be in GG episodes or 10mph anymore. Don't quote me on that. But he did definitely disappear very suddenly to the point where many fans though he quit his job at GG. And I'm sure just as many have just forgotten about him entirely because he's barely ever seen or heard on GG(if ever) since he "left" Twitter.

Obviously, I can't say with 100% certainty that Vernon wrote this by himself or anything like that. I still only read the sample of GHAC so I can't say if there are more clues. But thinking about how most Gg viewers are either indifferent or annoyed by Vernon, he definitely would never had a fair shot at selling any kind of merchandise let alone a $15 book to anyone(hot pepper gaming is long over and not on anyone's radar).

Arin, however, has a couple hundred thousand people lined up to s his d at a second's notice and has the perfect platform to sell nearly anything. You simply wrap it in some dumb angry-old-crook narrative with the Dr. Cecil character that makes it seem like Arin thinks we can't tell he is Cecil in disguise and nobody will figure it out. Perfect gaslighting technique, Grumps, 10/10!

The thought of thousands of people buy a book written by someone they don't care about, downright hate, or just don't know is kinda awful but also hilarious when thinking how aggressively some fans defend Arin on everything he says or does.

I guess that's the thanks and sincerity you get from the Grumps for being a Lovely!
The fandom apparently pissed Vernon off so much that he spent 3 years making a book about it to spite the fans, and they created Cecil in order to hide that fact because - no shit - having your creative director metatextually shittalking fans outright isn't going to go over well.

And in case you're curious, the Main subreddit has gone into full lockdown over this and is hiding posts about this. Not outright deleting them, but hiding them outright.

All I knew about Vernon was the gay boy bait game, this is amazing. It's amazing that Arin's first response is to make a bad skit, which is only good marketing in the sense people talk about it.
Good work, Vernon.

Man I SWEAR Iv'e seen that logo somewhere....

Hmmmm it's on the tip of my tongue...

I know most front facing skull designs look relatively similar, but something about an ink blotch/ Rorschach art style specifically leaves me skeptical

I just noticed there's another skull inside the O in the Venture Bros skull logo.

The GHAC logo looks so shit by comparison.
