Well, Nintendo may have been salty about the abuse and wanted to distance themselves, but breaking that NDA was basically golden ticket to throw him off a bridge for any reason.
 
Not to get anymore off topic, but as someone who never played ff vii, can someone explain in 3 sentences or less why the remake is so controversial?

Also does egomania's voice stick out or did he actually do a different voice for his role in the game?
That would take me out of a game like that hardcore.

Basically, the remake is not a traditional JRPG, which the original was. That was the first complaint. Secondly, it’s been split into three games. And third, it’s not a straight remake, it introduces some revisionist and meta elements.

I’m not the kind to even really be that bothered by it all, but it does kind of seem like calling it a remake is inaccurate, if not outright misleading.

There's a lot of side content (a sequel film, prequel games etc.) that came after FF7 that are relatively controversial because they convolute the storyline and characters.

The Sephiroth from the sequel film time travels back to the end of the remake to fight you and change the future so he doesn't die, and the whole game has ghosts trying to ensure that the past "happens as it's supposed to" but in the end you kill them, which is a thinly veiled metaphor for the fans (the ghosts) wanting to have thing stay the same but Nomura (the game's director whose writing is universally reviled, he's responsible for Kingdom Hearts if you were wondering) saying "fuck you" and killing the fans.

Since it deals with timeline nonsense and outright calls the original FF7 a "bad end", it's a sequel and not a remake. The disingenuous marketing and having tricked fans for years that they were actually getting a remake to one of their favourite games has people very, very upset.

And to compound further, because the game is visually impressive and techincally fine in terms of gameplay (Even if I myself dislike the combat) any complaints are generally met with a dismissive wave away by people who don't care about the story revisions. It's also interesting to see which Youtubers will buckle to shill for Square and people like Oney actually calling the game on its crap.

People have already mentioned it the thread, but he came out as an abuser. He broke an NDA about voicing Byleth (Main character) from the most recent Fire Emblem game, and the abuse statements were shortly after. Guy had a pretty good acting career to that point, and he still is voicing Reigan in Mob Psycho 100 even now. However that is the last piece of actual ongoing work on his Wiki as most big agenacies are trying to cut ties with him akin to the "Kick Vic" movement.

It's crazy how people like Arin, Niosi, Mick, and Tomar all basically started in the same camp together during the rise of Newgrounds and uploads to Youtube. Then you see them now in like twp split camps. The bad ones with a varied mix of Arin being a cuck, Niosi for reasons above. Then the good ones with Mick (who was an advocate for animators/voice actors during adpocalypse) and Tomar(Who lent his voice to numerous free fan games and Arin's projects) both becoming successful voice actors with multiple video games and anime credits.

Bringing it back to Arin since I'm just remembering those early times. Arin's magnum opus will always be Girlchan in Paradise, and that was like a unified effort of people above and more. The comedy during that series was so onpoint, the animation was great, and not only had Tomar (as Yusuke and Guy) but also Kira Buckland as Girlchan. Like that whole series is Newgrounds in a nutshell and it's great to see current creators from Sleepycabin and the like still making content in that style.
 
Okay honestly i don't understand why it's so bad. I mean sure he's not the greatest guy in the world but there are so many more dipshits we could be wasting our breath on. Can someone explain to me why y'all don't like him?

There's been a few people being mentioned recently. Are we talking arin, Nomura, or niosi?

If it's arin we're talking about then just read the thread man, the explanation is in there. Also consider the website you're on. Wasting our breath on goss and laughing at tards is our bread and butter.

But if you want a tldr it's because he's a faggot.

I know nothing of the other two people you probably weren't referring to.
