Shots fired after federal police in Minneapolis struggle to subdue man brandishing gun amid protests, video shows​

Shots rang out in Minneapolis early Saturday after federal police tried to subdue a man who was waving around a gun, according to law enforcement sources and video posted to social media.

A 39-second clip showed about half a dozen cops struggling with someone on the sidewalk in front of a donut shop at 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue, when the gunfire erupted.

The officers appeared to scatter after the barrage of shots went off, according to the footage.



The shooting happened after the man brandished a firearm with two magazines, a law enforcement source told The Post, sharing a photo of the firearm.

In a statement, city officials urged residents to stay calm and avoid the area.


“We are aware of reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area of 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave. We are working to confirm additional details,” the statement said.

More than 100 protesters had been at the scene when the encounter occurred. The man’s condition was not immediately known.





On Friday, protesters yelled obscenities at two people wearing plain clothes who they believed to be agents after protesters claimed their rental car was linked to the incident, according to video reviewed by The Post.

Neither person was an officer.



Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) posted about the incident on X late morning Saturday as the details of the shooting were still unfolding.

“I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening,” he wrote.

“The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”


Neither the White House or the Department of Homeland Security have said what precipitated the shooting, and did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The suggestion is that the shot was actually an uncommanded discharge- which would not, in and of itself, be negligent. There is something fucked up with the P320 platform, though it's not clear what (before anyone starts in- no, this is a separate issue from the drop safe failure that was "fixed"). There are videos of them going off without someone actively pulling the trigger through. Sig tends to claim it's bad holsters but some people have managed to make the firing pin drop experimentally by putting some pressure on the trigger and then manipulating the slide, depending on the tolerances of each specific unit. And that shouldn't happen.

That said, I just don't see an actual muzzle blast, bullet strike on pavement or shell casing from that video. It's just not good enough resolution. Sure would be nice to have body camera footage to analyze incidents like this. But hopefully if this is what happened it comes out regardless...

I'll repeat this again since you're retarded and gay: this specific model of gun, the SIG Sauer P320, has a known defect where it actually fires on its own. A 2024 FBI investigation concluded that certain movements common to law enforcement can potentially disengage the safety mechanism, causing a discharge. ICE banned it for their agents July 2025, directing a switch to Glock 19s. People keep insinuating the officer himself was negligent, which in other cases, I might agree. But when it's the gun known for this shit, I'll give the benefit of the doubt to an ICE agent.

You aren't allowed to impede federal investigations by assaulting armed agents. Intentionally creating the risk or threat of assault is a crime. When an agent is forcefully removing another retard from their perimeter, your intervention won't be seen as anything other than a threat to neutralize. Shoving someone away = "I am an armed agent who does NOT want people near me right now." Anybody running up or getting in-between will be seen as that same level of threat at bare minimum, but likely more.

If we apply the same standard the Left applied to the shooting of Ashley Babbitt by a federal agent, this shooting was justified regardless of if he even had a firearm.
 
The news keeps telling me he was legally carrying the gun, then I read somewhere that the police didn't find a driver's license or his concealed carry permit on his body. In my state, it's a crime to carry and not have your credentials, and it's the same with federally regulated firearms/accessoriess (machine guns, silencers.) You are legally obligated to carry your "papers" with you at all times in these scenarios. It makes the 2A a 2nd class right, but that's the way the US has treated guns for the last few decades, especially the left.

I looked into Minnesota to see what their laws were, and it's what I thought. Minn. Stat. § 624.714, subdivision 1b.

It's only a $25 penalty for a first offence, but it's an objective fact that he was not carrying the pistol lawfully assuming the police are correct in saying he wasn't carrying his ID/permit.

Yes exactly, looking at the incident in a vacuum maybe the agents were at fault in the heat of the moment, I can't really tell what happened in the video. But there's so much bullshit that they have had to (needlessly) tolerate I again just see these incidents as inevitable at this point. Same with the Renee girl, who probably was trying to flee without intending to maim or kill, but just happening to do so with the one officer who had been previously run over and dragged by a car.

There is something just wrong with these people. Like up here in Cancuckistan, leftists say the same things and will protest and vandalize things but they don't fuck with the police in the same manner. No one has this prerogative where they think they can interfere with police by blocking them with their cars or their bodies, follow police around and not get fucked up by them.
 
He did not deserve to get killed, that's my totally professional and much needed assessment according to the available footage. He might have deserved to have shit kicked out of him. Perhaps his face broken. And forced to say women do not have penises.

But it's just cope to say the agents were right to shoot. Killing people on the spot because they're annoying as fuck is a third-world thing. Call for backup, arrest all of those faggots, throw them in jail for attacking law enforcement, obstructing justice or whatever else sticks. This guy was disarmed and surrounded by about 4-5 guys. They could handle him without shooting.

I hate the protesters, Renee Bad did this to herself, get those morons out of the streets. But lawfully. If not for the moral aspect of it, then for the optics. Because this looks really, really bad. Every right winger who carries (should) know every relevant law, how to act in public, how to interact with law enforcement, and probably more things I'm not considering. Sometimes you have to know when and where NOT to carry (schools, courthouses, various private properties). Going to a fucking riot, and that's what these are, and not having your ID and permit is the fastest way to find yourself in a shitty situation where you might get shot.

Not me, I conceal carry, and I make sure to drink heavily before I go outside (Normally do like, five shots of Jamo and finish it with a swig of Angels Envy) - Then I proceed to get really mad, like super mad, because I have to drive over to the school and pick up my ex-wives dumb ass kid I hate. Then, after that, I make sure to attend a protest, block a few feds to fuck with them, then I am like "HA! SUCK MY PENIS, YOU... YOU... fucking... FUCKS! Fuck you!" as I then refuse to move out of the street and then fight arrest, making sure instead of a standard holster, I waist tuck my sig 320, which is always pointed right at my dick and scrotum.

I'm a very cool and smart person.
