Armored Core

NEW AC6 GAMEPLAY DROPPED.
It feels way closer to gen 3 + 4 than I would think. I'm happy with how it looks, though you could tell they made things more casualized than previous entries. Also the healing mechanic still rubs me the wrong way, but they didn't show it in the demo. I recommend watching this version over any other youtuber due to the lack of commentary about MUH SOULS and what not.

Biggest thing I've noticed is that there seems to be a "hard lock on", that will change things a lot. I've been mediocre at keeping stuff in my sight, so I'll accept my filthy casual badge and say I'll enjoy it.

EDIT:

I know you guys hate Vaati and at the start I wanted to slap him about talking about souls, but his video goes into deep detail on how the HUD behaves

Still 'ate him, just a little less. So long as he kept the Souls sperging to a minimum then I'm all ears.

Concerning new lock on style, I'm fine with it so long as you can still retain some level of manual aiming. They also ripped Sekiro's stagger system and put it in AC6 which I'm more or less all for since older games' stagger is either barely matter in 4 gen or a gateway to getting buttfucked in 1 to MoA and V/VD. They better make missions last longer to justify the inclusion of repair kits and resupply points. Shields also being more useful than previous games but that's not a high bar to clear. Melee is also improved a lot, combined with the weapon combo'ing in mini boss fight and it feels like a very good combat flow. Anyway, until the game releases I'll reserve judgement on the gameplay.

From what I've read here and there, the demoed mission was half an hour and in a Reddit AMA some guy said bigger than AC4 and 5 map combined, though that means nothing to me.

More interested in how much of a costdoes the healing support or hotswapping AC mid mission will hit your end of mission revenue. I expect those to be spendy, specially if you can keep loading saved games.

How a zoomer Youtuber plays a PS1 game:
1. Don't read the manual.
2. Ask online for most broken strat.
3. Speedrun the games to get to the next one.
First, Vaati is the type of faggot you don't want in your community. Perfectly content with bandwagoners staying in their lane.
Second, Cookies and Cream, Gundam Unicorn and Another Century's Episode R are actually harder than people expect them to be. Of course, bandwagoners don't actually care about FromSoftware games beyond whatever the current bandwagon is. Sidenote: I completed 3D Dot Game heroes without taking hit, strictly out of autism. Nothing in any Souls game has come close to that bullshit.

Third, I truly hate how FromSoft hype went from "Niche games for niche people" to "HURRR DURR HARD GAEMS".

Sadly he already wormed his way in with playing all AC games video and actually be the first to take note of HUD design, sketch it out and actually explain what he saw in the demo booth. Best I can hope for is for him to stop reinforcing the Souls angle since every single time he bring that up, it's a FromSoft design element and not exclusive to Souls.

>Another Century Episode R
Damn, this does bring me back. Also I agree that people these days keep associating difficulty with FromSoft like they've been playing Candy Crush all these years. FromSoft games are piss easy if you actually bothered to master the basics of the game and have functioning pattern recognition, the hard part is if you have the willpower to continue pushing through after failures instead of giving up. These games reward perseverance and how you approach the challenge, not damage sponges (looking at you Fire Giant) or insane bullshit outside of player's control.

I mean, it won't stop others from gushing and/or complaining about "Mecha Souls" given the sheer number of people who consider Vaati to be an authoritative voice on these things.
If it's a single player game with no co op or "invasion" feature, does this actually matter?

At least he played the games, did an "Armored Core 6" search yesterday and the amount of "SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOULS!" that was on display made my head spin. This is the bog standard case of an indie band you really liked making it big and the horrible horrible consequences that brings with it, specially if they made it big with that genre change that you never really got that into.

But enough talking about youtube faggotry

So, I really want to hear impressions from AC veterans. How are you guys feeling about the changes? That all weapons will be in the shoulder buttons and can be used at the same time. That stuff like coolers have been removed as pieces you fuck with. That melee seems to not be a mess. That staggering seems to be an important part of things and that bosses are now pattern based. I'm personally loving all that I'm seeing but I'd file myself as an AC casual at best.

I am mostly positive about the changes, save for the inclusion of repair kits. If it means newcomer can have an easier time and I get longer missions similar in length to Ace Combat then I'm fine with it. No mention of heat mechanics so I am really interested in how flamethrowers will fare in this game (faster stagger when hit continuously?) Melee showcase is really impressive, far above the simple dash and swipe in older games. Kicking from V made a return so an all-gun build running out of ammo won't be a death sentence to you but I hope that they tune the kick damage right so you don't havr the whole deleting an AC in a couple of kicks thing. AC6 will be a lot of people's baby first game in the series so I hope these changes can have a positive impact on them.

Now please excuse me while I make preemptive AC plans to bully newfags in multiplayer, starting with a tank build with 4 autocannons (if there exists back mounted autocannons).

So far it looks like they're mashing all generations of AC together, which I really don't mind. Should make for varied gameplay. As someone that started on the original on PS1, the series has come a really long way from slow and clunky to almost the more ridiculous types of Gundam shit that happened in AC4. Not really going to have an opinion on controls until I can play it. I'm hoping KBM works well and this doesn't turn out to be yet another shit console port. Overall I'd say this looks a lot more arcadey than previous entries since you can essentially swap builds mid mission. I don't mind repair kits as I'm past the stage in life where video games need to be a form of sadism. The melee improvements look fun too but makes me wonder how fucked the in game economy will be; replacing one form of punishment for another.

As for PvP, staggering is going to make players rage as I'm sure it's going to be abused wholesale in PvP to bully others. Just imagine constant stun locking from the other team.

None of it actually matters and I agree that it doesn't do any good to constantly seethe about Vaati, hack though he may be.

Point being, the rest of the internet won't stop putting him on a pedestal, though and I can see how that gets absolutely grating to constantly hear about.

...Come to think of it, what does an invasion feature or lack thereof have to do with this?

I've never played any of the Souls games honestly despite somehow having 2 on my steam account (prob a humble bundle). I just assumed people were only comparing it for the troll potential of invading other peoples games.

I see the "Armored Souls" arguing will continue well into the game's release.
