Like I said: I know better than to throw money at people these days. Even FROM.The PC port has to be done by someone else or it's going to blow.
Since PS1. I just want to play stompy robots. My comment was directed towards From's history of shit ports. From others, I gather they only played 4 which was not a great example of the franchise .Have most of you actually played Armored Core?
I mean, I'll be the first to admit that I haven't (outside of the "spiritual successor" Daemon x Machina), but I've been floating a lot of what I see some of you saying by a friend who is a seasoned Armored Core veteran, and he just keeps consistently hitting me with "What the fuck are those people talking about? Have they ever actually PLAYED an Armored Core?"
I don’t know. Use Vimm’s Lair or something. They have all the Armored Core games on there.so my question is you kids got any advice/suggestions on how to acquire more Armored Core games and which ones to play? Like preferably through emulation.
Of course not.Have most of you actually played Armored Core?

I've been an armored fanboy since day 1. If there was any franchise I was ever an unwavering cunt for? It's Armored Core.Have most of you actually played Armored Core?

A lot of this ranting really sounds like it all boils down to the fact that you REALLY fucking hate White Glint for some reason, which is almost entirely a "you" problem.I've been an armored fanboy since day 1. If there was any franchise I was ever an unwavering cunt for? It's Armored Core.
I was considered a luddite on the Nexus forums before they went down, I HATED the fuck out of 4 simply because it was turning into Gundam/Zone of the Enders.
Every mecha game should be unique, fuck overlap. Gundam does gundam bullshit. Carnage Heart does Carnage Heart shit and Armored Core does Armored Core.
I still think Primal Armor was gay and it's still gay. 4A was an acceptable sequel, fuck White Glint. Seriously, White Glint is the dumbest fucking piece of shit in the entire franchise even Stinger , Zinada and the Biological Enemies weren't such a tremendous fuck you to the player. White Glint was supposed to replace Nineball, but what they managed to do was create something more cuntier than they ever could imagine. 5 was also fucking stupid, storywise and gameplay wise. I absolutely hate the the midget ACs and I hate that there's no official name for them. They're not ACs. They're fucking MTs wearing AC parts and then the psychic Ai bullshit the story pulled out of it's ass. 5VD was the crowing piece of bullshit and I'm glad the franchise didn't die on White Glint, I'm sorry , BLACK GLINT bullying your Build-A-Bear AC.
The one and only thing I hate about Armored Core 6 already? Is that the faux-fan youtubers have already started to make videos about a game they never fucking played. They're documenting a community that has had so many sad goodbyes that the survivors are completely unfazed by it. The death of the original Nexus. The death of the second Nexus. The closing of AC5 and the sad farewares posted on Gamefaqs. The May Greenfield chimpout, which will, in my opinion forever be the most autistic moment of Armored Core History. I mean, fuck, everyone who religiously plays Armored Core has a degree of autism- but when people started personificating the faceless pilots? The blowback was hilarious and amazing.
Last but not least, Ninebreaker is my favorite Armored Core and it's not even a real armored core.
I've only really played AC1, and I can tell you now that game doesn't hold up at all. It's a mech sim throughout, only for the final level to be a platforming stage that is almost impossible.I've only played one armored core game that I recall, way back on the 360. I really liked it. i was curious if From would ever return to Armored Core and I'm glad that they are. so my question is you kids got any advice/suggestions on how to acquire more Armored Core games and which ones to play? Like preferably through emulation.

Regular V can be completely skipped, but Verdict Day has some good single player stuff, including a hardcore mode that makes all of the missions harder. People are split on V/Verdict Day, but it's a solid modern entry and definitely worth your time if you like mecha. Especially considering ps3 games are very cheap(though the price of all AC games will probably rise after the new announcement because of coomlectors). Is there any worthwhile single-player content in V and Verdict Day, or is it all defunct multiplayer?
Aren't most numbered AC titles usually a soft reboot of the series anyway, at least in setting?I am cautiously optimistic about AC6. I think them calling it AC6 instead of rebooting is a good sign. From Software is one of the least likely devs to cuck out and "streamline" a complex game like AC into oblivion, but it's clown world so it could happen. Come what may, I will be watching AC6's career with great interest.

I'm basically acting a liaison here, but my friend argues that your points about "White Glint using the power of determination and friendship to beat you" and it being "the true hero of AC4/4A" are not at all what happens whatsoever.See, I have no problem with the Nameless Merc aspect of Armored Core. That's what I enjoy it. I enjoyed that apathy of selecting missions and just ruining someone's day. Today you're helping. Tomorrow, you're coming back and blowing the fuck out of the place.
Armored Core 4 changed that by involving your nameless character into the events like you're actually saying things. Everyone's speaking for you. The same with V and VD. Hell, this even carried over to Daemon X Machina, where your silent fuckface of a create-a-character is actually one of the dudes you've been fighting all game- but since you're terminally mute, it doesn't matter!
White Glint is the main character and the people who pilot it are the "True" heroes of Armored Core 4. You're just along for the ride and it's going to use the power of determination and friendship to defeat you. That's why I hate White Glint.
At no point in any Armored Core game up to that point, aside from Unmanned ACs and Giant MTs does anything ignore the fundamental laws of the game. Even the final bosses of older games would come back in Alien MTs and other wacky things to defeat you, but never their AC.
An AC / NEXT that's critical cannot operate. White Glint always operates. It always revives. It's not going to lose because plot. It's going to get up. It's beyond Critical. The frame is exposed.
You're going to fight it again - That's pure Gundam SEED/ Blue Destiny Bullshit and it's the mascot of the franchise going forward. Ever since White Glint did it, the "LOOK AT ME MA'AH I CAN REVIVE MYSELF" bullshit kept appearing in all the games after - - and then it just had to show up again in VD.
Tl;dr You're right. It is a me problem.
Each mainline entry does some soft rebooting, for sure, but there is a timeline and some continuity. Akin to how Venture Bros. season 6 did things. I'm just saying that if the game was called Armored Core(2023) that would be a huge fucking red flag lol.Aren't most numbered AC titles usually a soft reboot of the series anyway, at least in setting?
You know, setting aside the fact that the end of Verdict Day pretty much confirms that it's more or less in the same timeline as 4/4A.

And if its single revive gimmick is what bothers you (despite the fact that you realistically only face it twice between 4 and 4A), then do you also have a problem with Evangel from Last Raven? Since, apparently, you face him at least 4 times on every single route of the game.
It's a long shadow to get away from.I'll fucking kill someone if the main complaint is that it isn't Souls like enough.
I've also only played 1 and hated the fuck out of that mission so much that I had blocked out of my mind... turns out my heavy as fuck tank threaded heavy artillery monstruosity ain't too hot when it comes to jumping.I've only really played AC1, and I can tell you now that game doesn't hold up at all. EDIT: As for how to acquire them. Archive.org has a number of PS1 collections. You can often download individual games there.

I guess it's safe to say that I'm an indie dev (not pro) and a mech game has been on my projects list for a long time. It's been an up hill battle because every time I mentioned it some autist would start talking about AC20s and heat management and Timber Wolfs as if I was making a Battletech game.
Now I'm even more fucked because already autists are screaming saying that western devs are going to make mech games to try and rip off FromSoftware.
While I'm slightly bitter having one of my game projects being somewhat undercut (it's very different from AC), hopefully AC6 will be good. I heard a lot of good things about the multiplayer back during the 360 so it might be fun to try it out if autists don't ruin it.
This 1000000%
It's not just YouTube, but randoms on Discord as well. The people that a month ago considered mech games to be a dead genre and FromSoftware's catalogue to be nothing more than a series of irrelevant stepping stones to get to Dark Souls are now suddenly AC experts.
The big fear is that they soulsify it. I fucking love the souls series, it singlehandedly got me back into gaming. But I also can't deny how Sekiro must have felt for any Tenchu fan. And I love me some Sekiro.I am cautiously optimistic about AC6. I think them calling it AC6 instead of rebooting is a good sign. Yeah I'm worried about them trying to capitalize on the souls games too much as well. As @ProfDongs pointed out, the weird soulslike branding shit they put in the trailer is mad corny, but hopefully that's just some shit bandai's marketing team tacked on. I struggle to come up with exactly how they could soulsify the gameplay part. Surely they wouldnt tack on a Fable style i-frame dodge on a game that deals with projectiles 80% of the time, right? Right?!It's a long shadow to get away from.

As for your indie project. Good luck with it and hope to see it to fruition, be it an autism generator with all the customization or a high octane action game or anything in between.

I don't think it would happen since I don't see how they would translate the standard bonfire/estus/explore/iframes into an AC game but it will be in the back of my head till some actual gameplay is shown.
Bigger issue I see is that people say the series went mostly to hell from 4 onward. So the real question is what they will do with 6. Go back to how the older games pkayed which is slower pased or dial up the anime like in the later entries.
As preparatiom I will give Armored Core 3 a go on the Deck and see if it's only nostalgia for 1 what's keeping me intetested.
Now that you mention it, I bet the Phantom Pain style of sandbox zone is exactly how they'll go about it. I believe those leaks that dropped earlier in the year did mention that it would be an "interconnected world" or something to that effect. If they go that route they'll have to redo how much the fucking ammo costs lol. Mid mission supply drops could be a nice addition though.Whoever thought it was a good idea to put in "Feed the fire" and "Let the cinders burn" in that trailer should be shot, wrong franchise and audience. Looking forward to it at a real framerate, and it says there Missions in the description so maybe its still structured like that. Open World AC sounds awful and the MGSV way is one of the few I think they could implement Missions into it (you can go to all theses places, but unless its a mission there's nothing there). I'm interested in how they handle online, if its just one on one arena or maybe like the Chrome Hounds system where you were assigned to a country to fight for territory could be neat.
