Armored Core

I'm glad FROM is trying to properly manage expectations before spergs cause them to spiral out of control.
Studios should definitely learn how to tard wrangle their audiences.
Wrong. The audience should tard-wrangle themselves. Turning companies into parents is just going to create a shitty cycle of corpo-parenthood between their worshippers audience and overlords companies, especially if it has to do with entertainment of all things.

I am new to armored core which entry should i try first
I played AC1 when it came out but since then haven't touched it. I'm emulating AC3 on pc2psx and enjoying it. Skipped 2 since I read more suggestions for 3 and seems like 2 uses the dpad instead of left analog for movement (though that's probably a non issue if emulating now that I think about it).

Happy to see the soulsification thing has been nipped at the bud, still hope that better melee and lots of bosses are on the menu though.

As for AC3 battle log. Got up to D rank on the arena, aside from doing specific builds for arena fights (shoulder chaingun is fire when you don't have to pay for it's ammo and dual rocket launchers did quick work of a heavy slow setup) I'm basically operating on OG Gundam logic with a beam rifle and beam saber. But I'm still with the missions where the opposition dies to a beam saber strike and I'm in no risk of running out of ammo.

I actually played an AC game for the first time last year - AC2. I used to play the hell out of a demo of it I got with a Playstation magazine like 20 years ago. I'd forgotten how so many games of that era have zero handholding, honestly took me a good few (hundred) attempts to even get anywhere with pure trial and error. Totally satisfying and addictive as hell, picked up the original on Playstation, AC2: Another Age and AC3 afterwords, I haven't tried 3 yet.

I was massively into giant robots and stuff when these games were new, not sure how I missed out on them back then. Better late than never I suppose.

That's stupid, simply because people will always be retarded/too lazy to look things up themselves. Vaati's initial video about "armored souls" has 1.4 million views, probably more eyeballs that the IGN interview they did will ever have. One could argue some damage has already been done.

It makes sense to manage expectations simply from a marketing standpoint.

The whole thing about corpo-parenthood is just edgy nonsense, yes yes consoomers and such. Whatever.

People with common sense can ignore Vaati and his autistic takes. Retard can be a lolcow if dug enough with info.

From fucked up for sure by including a bunch of Dark Souls references in the first third of the trailer. They shouldn't have done that.

From isn't responsible for the actions of idiots on the internet. What are they supposed to do? It would do way more harm than good to DMCA the video or send people to his house to shut him up. No one listens to game journos any more, and they are even more stupid than the fans.

What From should do is release some gameplay sooner rather than later because as gorgeous as the CGI trailer is, it says fuck all about the game and could be anything.

How autistic are you?

Extremely Autistic
Armored Core 1, Masters of the Arena, Project Phantasma.
Emulate Formula Front. Nobody talks about this one because it's Carnage Heart Exa, but for Armored Core nerds.
Ninebreaker is reserved for the most autistic of Armored Core players ,it also has one of the best theme songs ever.

Autistic Sadist.
Last Raven.
If you start with this one, all of the other games will feel easy in comparison.
If you start with Ninebreaker, this will feel easy.
If you start with 1,2 or 3, this will feel difficult as fuck.

Mildly Autistic.
Armored Core 2, Armored Core 2 Another Age.
Armored Core 3, Armored Core 3 Silent Line
Armored Core Nexus.

Not Autistic At All, Dare I say Normal.
Armored Core 4/ 4A are very accessible and won't kill your brain due to the controls. Edit: don't update if you want to boost exploit/ glitch the shit out of bosses.

Armored Core Verdict Day, regular 5 is fucked due to the online being disabled.

A better question is to even emulate this shit, if that is even possible due to limitations.

Yes and No.
Formula Front and 3 remake were available on the PSP, so emulation is easy.
1, MOA, PP, perfect emulation.
2 runs perfectly, 2AA lags a bit. 3 and 3SL glitch out on the music.
Last Raven, Ninebreaker and Nexus glitches out a bit when emulated, music might not load, some textures will be wrong, etc.
Note :I'm not running copies, it's the actual discs on PCX2 and a external bluray reader. Your experience may differ.

And there goes my attempts at emulating the full AC experience.

Yeah, showing gameplay is always best. But releasing that interview is a good move, even though they nipped the infighting brewing in the souls community in the bud. It would've been fun to witness a bunch of retards argue about it for months.

Still kinda satisfying to see a bunch of soulstubers eating crow.

I'm emulating AC3 on a deck through a... whatever the fuck a ps2 game is and it works fine. Do use software rendering (look in emulator settings or hotkeys), the default is hardware rendering and I had mean stutter with that.

There's a mission in AC1, where you have to go into an underground base and destroy a server or something like that. The problem is, someone released some sort of noxious gas that eats away at metal; so the moment you enter the base, your armor starts dropping, and oh, the base defenses don't suffer from the gas, and like most bases in AC games, it's a fucking maze.

Fond memories...

We'll know how much Miyazaki is involved if there's a blind, barefoot woman who may be a doll in the game.
You know how the different head modules had different voices... Make a calm whispy female voice.

"Enemy AC identified as Valkyrie."

"System switched, to normal mode."

Or other lines from the Maiden in Black, Flame Keeper, or whoever.

I'm glad that they're saying that the game will be single player focused, what really turned me off to 5/VD was that there was a heavy focus on multiplayer combat.

I played the series from the PS1 and a bit into the PS2 but mostly dropped it by the end of the PS2 and didn't bother with the PS3 installments at all.

Man I missed mission-based campaigns. Dis gon be gud.
Now the question is, are people going to be upset by clearly spelled out and identifiable objectives? Because if they can do that for armored core there's no reason they wouldn't be able to do the same for the Souls series. And that's long been a complaint of the series is the poorly explained quest design, even back in Demon's Souls with getting the mausoleum key and a few other items.

It could be argued the objective identification and lack of thereof is just a game design decision. One thing for certain is that this particular Armored Core title will be swarmed by Dark Souls fans on release, some of which may or may not like the game but that is to be expected. There have already been some discussion on Youtube about what the game will be like:
