Based on the trailer, I'm expecting that the female protagonist will function akin to older AC games while the samurai will play like the RPG Assassin's Creed. Who even ASKED for this?

I'm certain that Nobunaga was the reason why Japan eventually became obsessed with the west's cultures and such. Now its coming back to bite them.Game comes out in 6 months, they don’t show a scrap of gameplay, even in the “extended look” videos, but they’re sure ready for you to pre-order the ultimate edition for $130.
“Live the intertwined stories of Naoe, an adept shinobi Assassin from Iga Province, and Yasuke, the powerful African samurai of historical legend.”
Yeah, no. Yasuke was kind of a circus clown. Oda Nobunaga was what we would now call a westaboo, obsessed with all things not Japanese. There’s a reason why he adopted muskets so quickly. He also liked western style of clothing.
So when a big-ass former slave showed up on his shores, he was delighted. Gave him a sword and essentially made him a retainer. He travelled with Nobunaga a lot but it was more of a “look at this unique kind of person that you won’t find anywhere else in Japan” kind of thing.
(I think. That’s what I was told but feel free to tell me I’m wrong)
I’m really wondering where this whole narrative of Yasuke being a samurai came from. Who knows, I might be wrong, but I haven’t found any historical evidence that he even used a sword at all. I’ve never even heard of this guy until today.Game comes out in 6 months, they don’t show a scrap of gameplay, even in the “extended look” videos, but they’re sure ready for you to pre-order the ultimate edition for $130.

It actually has been addressed by the people (rightly) pointing out that a huge black man in an Asian society can’t be a very covert assassin. To be clear, I haven't played an Assassin's Creed game since 3, but there's a small detail about this Yasuke I've noticed from the trailer that I think is getting overshadowed (hurr) by the popular complaints.
Think about third-person melee action games in general where it appears the common practice is apparently smaller than the enemies, even the basic ones. Call it Little Mac Syndrome. The gameplay reason for this is pretty obvious to me, minimizing obstruction of the player character so that opponents are clearly visible and prominent. Emotionally, there's also the David and Goliath sense of awe and empowerment in defeating foes bigger than yourself.

I've had the amusing thought way back at the time that your character in Sekiro must be the shortest man in Japan.
This Yasuke, on the other hand, appears to be a giant compared to all the Asian men he's surrounded by.

Obviously there's intentional contrasting gameplay styles between the big brawling man and the small sneaking woman, but I just found this as a curious design-effecting consequence of having the player character be a foreigner to Japan that nobody else is going to mention.
He apparently was given a sword and property for his service at Oda Nobunaga’s court. There is written record that he did fight for Nobunaga, even after his death.I’m really wondering where this whole narrative of Yasuke being a samurai came from. See it’s times like these I understand why my teachers in school told me to never use Wikipedia as a source. The Wikipedia page for Yasuke is literally in the middle of an edit war. Theozilla, the retard trying to claim Yasuke was a samurai, is getting called out in his profile talk page.

That doesn't explain Akechi intervening on his execution by calling him an animal and not Japanese, hence Japanese laws of wielding a sword as a retainer not applying to him. It was a death sentence if I'm not mistaken. He apparently was given a sword and property for his service at Oda Nobunaga’s court. Wikipedia has openly stated that they prioritise secondary sources over primary.See it’s times like these I understand why my teachers in school told me to never use Wikipedia as a source.
Now, compare that to William Adams and Jan Joosten who lives and died in Japan with plenty of honors, to the point that the district around Tokyo Station is named after Joosten's Japanese name in honor of him.
These days Ubisoft is more Canadian than french.French company takes another countries culture and alters it to fit their cultural views. Isn't there a term for that?
He has also just been added to the "List of foreign-born samurai" page. The Wikipedia page for Yasuke is literally in the middle of an edit war.
I didn't even watch the shitty trailer, are they really both niggers?game is called shadows, the two protagonist are niggers. what they mean by this?
