Bumping this thread since the artwork for the new assassins creed game set to be revealed tomorrow got leaked early and after years of fans clamouring for a game set in Japan, they made the male character black haha, let's see how this move works out for them.

WE.
WUZ.
SAMURAI.
The comment section on the trailer is cutting this thing to pieces.

Earlier the Wikipedia page for yasuke said he was a samurai and now it doesn’t. Guess the retards didn’t succeed in historical revisionism.

Check out the "talk" section of the Yasuke wikipedia article. It's a bunch of Japanese annoyed with westerners trying to write fan fiction for over a decade.

How will the only black guy in to entire country keep a low profile?
You don't. But considering Yasuke was built like a brick shithouse that's a problem for everyone else to concern themselves with.

But since this is Current Year we can't have the guy making like Benkei at the Bridge and smashing everyone stupid enough to approach him with a fuck-huge weapon without everyone reeeing.

Haven't touched an Assassin's Creed game since those side-scrolling Chronicles ones. Looks like I'm not missing out on much.

Seriously though, the side-scrolling ones were surprisingly fun. Especially the one set during the Russian Revolution. It baffles me that Ubisoft relegated those to side content instead of making a full game out of each, especially when you consider that China, India and Russia were highly requested as settings for AC games back then.

Instead we got garbage RPGs with equally garbage combat and stealth/parkour mechanics with Origins and onward.

Going back and watching some of the older reveal trailers for previous games really highlights how awful the plague of "tell don't show" has become. Many previous trailers were really just one or two scenes, played out fully with little dialogue or maybe a voice over like the Blackbeard trailer. Shadows feels way more over produced with so many jump cuts and is bullshit dialogue heavy resulting in the characters saying and doing a lot but telling you less about the characters than watching Edward pull off a bar fight assassination or Ezio performing an assassination during Carnival. I think it boils down to just how generic the whole thing looks as there's no intrigue about the characters, there's no central or distinct villain, the characters look more out of place than mysterious and there's such little focus on assassination or creeds. Overall there's nothing that says this should be worth your time.

Oh and hearing a Japanese man speak perfect American English with the voice of a 40 year old smoker is just extra insult to injury.

Reasonably so. I’d be annoyed too if a bunch of people who aren’t from America tried to rewrite my countries history and say “um ackchyually, this isn’t how it was”.

I remember those trailers for the Ezio trilogy. Back when trailers could actually hype you up instead of making you feel like shit about the future of gaming.

I started with the Kenway trilogy but looking back on their reveal trailers really shows just how much more focused and purposeful what they showed was. Shay Cormac may not have done much of anything other than edgewalk in his trailer, but his characterization and intrigue is so much clearer than anything shown in the Shadow's trailer.

I wounder if the dwindle in care about premiere trailers is a reflection of the "games as a service" model that has ruined release hype due to everyone knowing that triple A games need 6 months of bug fixes before even worth considering.

It's another example of how the woke shit is so utterly racist. Can't have a historically set Japanese game with Japanese characters. How is this shit any different than when Hollywood films would make shit like Ghanis Khan played by John Wayne? It's the same shit, but worse as it's deliberately seeking out to do the wrong thing. Wrapped up in the idea they're the good people for doing it. Not just ignorant or limited.
