Dropped this series for the longest time after Brotherhood (fantastic game) but Origins piqued my interest in the series again with it's Egyptian setting.

I picked it up on some steam sale and i actually really like it. It's gorgeous and huuuuuuge and I really like the virtual museum tour mode. The level of detail is really fantastic too. Combat is a bit....weird....but I do enjoy sneaking into Greek villas in the Faiyum to assassinate child murdering crones. And raiding passing patrols for supplies and loot.

It isn't perfect but I just absolutely love Egyptian history and it really reminds me a lot of Prince of Persia.

It's okay. What killed it for me was it managed to be completely boring in every single quest. They just totally bungled that.

Combat feels better if you just mentally pretend it's not an Assassin's Creed game and so can't be aggravated by the RPG-like nature of the combat (instead of really flashy, well-animated killing moves).

I always wanted to try Odyssey but was put off by its turbowoke depiction of Greece and the lack of shields in a HOPLITE ERA game.

I have so much nostalgia for this series. You have no idea. It honestly pains me to see how far it's fallen since I last cared enough to buy the games.

This was the series that really got me feeling this.
I'm not ashamed to admit it. But I am ashamed in what's happened to it.
Last one I played and beat was IV. III was awful, II was great and it peaked with Brotherhood and Revelation. I think I tried syndicate, but hated it immediately. Do they even bother with the Animus and modern day plot stuff at all still?

Unpopular opinion, the movie was fine, could have been better though.

Desmond died in 3 remember? Among one of the bad decisions they made in it.
I liked IV but it was definitely just a pirate game than anything else. IV's modern day segments were also super boring and grating to get through since you were just playing as some faceless nobody Abstergo employee so pretty much all interactions were just people talking at you and nothing else.

I stopped giving a shit about the games that much after IV myself. Though the last game I played was Unity which didn't even bother to have modern day segments.

How was it? It was aight. Story wasn't too crazy but I guess it wasn't terrible either. But I mean how could you surpass the Ezio trilogy? Apparently though from what I understand Unity was like the last game before the gameplay went down the shitter and now stealth is borderline useless and it takes like 200 strikes to kill a goddamn chicken for some reason. No idea what the fuck they were thinking.

Apparently the modern day segments are back but now you're playing as some random lady protagonist now? Because of course you are. Also Desmond is like an A.I. now for some fucking reason? I don't know man, I'm not the one to ask. That's pretty much all I know.

I remember everyone hating Desmond back in the day which I feel like is why they killed him off. But now without him I think the series died too. I think I can honestly say AC3 was the beginning of the end for the series. Now in my unpopular opinion, 3 wasn't as terrible as people made it out to be. But it wasn't amazing either. Connor is no Ezio but I didn't hate him. And honestly the twist with Haytham turning out to be a templar was unexpected and kind of neat. I just wish he had more screen time.

It was never going to happen due to the power of brand recognition but I wish that Ubisoft had just given up on that gay cringelord Assassins crap and just started selling historical themed games. Basically do what they eventually more or less did, but like, don't even include a connection to Assassin's lore at all. You don't need it.

Even if they weren't willing to go that far, though, they could have at least mixed it up a little bit from game to game. It pisses me off now when I see the same tools in every game. Berserk dart. Smoke bomb. Shit like that. Too lazy to even make a different gadget. Pissed me off in Syndicate.

Off the top of my head, here's stuff that could have been cool:

AC3
- Throwable tomahawks
- Kentucky rifle (one shot, realistically long reload time, not usable as an effective melee weapon, pure sniper weapon)
- Musket with bayonet and a mechanic involving using it to fight off cavalry
(To be fair, AC3 was already GOAT with the lynching-soldiers-thing).

AC4
- Caltrops (were awesome in We Happy Few, serve the same purpose here, a chase breaker but does require you to run away)
- More than just fucking swords, you literally had axes and clubs (classic pirate weapons) in AC3 you assholes
- Grenados

Syndicate
- Make the thing a damn cover shooter, it's in an era of six-shooters, just make it Urban RDR you CUCKS

Origins
- It was actually really cool that it represented different bows as firearms categories (stupid, but I came to like it), shotgun bow, actual bow bow, assault rifle bow, cruise missile bow (lol), sniper rifle bow. But I do wish there were slings.

Odyssey
- WHERE IS MY SHIELD?!?! I haven't bought the game 60% because of that (40% because of feminist Hellenes).

It's a shame Ubisoft never made a Robin Hood themed Merry England game, as I think the theme, play style and the traditional Assassin's creed formula and its shift towards more rural/open settings would have worked perfectly there.

Bumping this thread since the artwork for the new assassins creed game set to be revealed tomorrow got leaked early and after years of fans clamouring for a game set in Japan, they made the male character black haha, let's see how this move works out for them.

I got it on sale and I will tell you not to bother with it. Boring, tedious and dull combat with an RPG system that no fucking asked for and ship combat more boring than Black Flag, the only saving grace for it is that the DLC has a flamethrower for the ship but I never bothered playing more of it due to the reasons above. Don't waste your money, don't waste the bandwidth to pirate it. Just ignore it.

Oh for fucks sake, they really are French to the fucking core.

Just make a fucking game that is good, and be neither woke or anti-woke. Just be good, like they used to be able to do.

It has to be a sign that a company is dying and has no talent left when it gets woke as shit. Plus we can enjoy links to wikipedia whenever someone questions the black man choice.

It’s such an unbelievably goddamn stupid idea. It couldn’t be any more obvious why they did it too, since it flies of the face of the real Yauske’s history.
if you know anything about assassins creed, its that who cares about history you get cool action shit

I barely played the originals. I did enjoy Black Flag, Rogue and Odyssey the most. I actually liked Kassandra and the setting of Ancient Greece. Origins was decent. Valhalla was forgettable. Syndicate was ok. Unity was meh. Never played Mirage.
