Assassin's Creed thread

They should have just stuck to Rebecca and Shawn as the secondary main characters in the modern day story since they were genuinely fun characters. Just have the player as being various Desmond fill-ins, and have them as the connecting narrative thread.
They were kinda already doing that. They had the nameless modern day PC in Black Flag hand over data to Shaun and Rebecca. Then another nameless modern day PC in Syndicate is going through the Frye twins' memories for info about the shroud while Shaun and Rebecca act on that info.

I wonder if some games will be rebooted as a result of the takeover. AC, for example, would be the best thing that could happen.

True, but they were still sort of in the background post Ass Creed III, and only really reappeared in Vahalla.

I think Ass Creed really needs a central modern character to drive the plot forward, rather than the player fill-in.

I think SW Outlaws will have a bigger impact because Disney wants a big cut. That is partially why EA didn't renew their SW contract.
I think they paid for the license upfront? So the losses would've already been projected.

I do think Skull and Bones was the thing that has sunk the company. The game has been in production since 2014, based on AC: Black Flag, a game that, I need to remind myself, was originally programmed for the XBox 360/PS3 era. Outlaws and Shadows were the backup plan, the surefire hits. The games that look good on investor calls because you have a game based on SW name along with your most successful original IP. Now, Ubisoft isn't 100% to blame for Outlaws bombing because Disney's mismanagement has played a starring role into that franchise's demise, but Shadows is completely self-inflicted.

Judging from the Insomniac leak, the Marvel licensing involved a large cut for Disney. So there's a good chance it might have been the same for Star Wars deals. Also I'm pretty sure a huge part of Skull and Bones was funded by the government of Singapore, which is why they couldn't cancel the game and had to let that bomb just slowly build up and explode in their faces.

When you put it like that, it feels almost like a parody of a game company in the style of "The Producers". It seems like what someone would do if they truly wanted to fail.

At some point they must have had a version of the game that was better and instead of that version, we got this.

There's no way they replace Yasuke with a Japanese dude. There might have been a few spectacular DEI flops recently but I doubt we're at the point yet where AAA company admits that removing nigger would improve their product.
If I were in charge, I would pull a Hideo Kojima and either have Yasuke written off in the first hour of the game or have it revealed that it was a plot by the bad guys implanting fake memories and the guy in charge is modeled after Lockley.

the guy in charge is modeled after Lockley.
No thank you.
There were many millions of Japanese and a few dozen Westerners and it'd be hypocritical to object to the Indians and Aidens forced into their London game if Anjin was shoehorned in

The fuck is up with niggers and brutalizing Asians? You had an entire Kike State-astroturfed movement killed in its crib (#StopAsianHate) because NYC niggers just couldn't stop killing Asians on the subway. The attempt to demonize Caucasians and set Asians against them fell unbelievably flat and many people were able to see the mask slip from the debacle. Maybe Asians and Caucasians both need to realize right quick that the things called sub-saharans gotta go.

Found a bit of an old video about Assassin's Creed; figured someone here might enjoy it:

Shit dropped on Steam so I looked up and lo behold, it was has achievements. They made a very vocal point out of not adding achievements to make people buy it on their own launcher.

So I go back and look:

Fucking keklmao. They buckled at the knee. Time to buy both I guess. AC is my collectathon embarrassing boner franchise. Odyssey and Origins were great for what they were; alternative history games masked as AC entries.

I barely play games at this point, I just collect them. Mirage was like $30 and Valhalla is $12 on sale. I still cringe at having paid full price for AC:NH in comparison. That said Valhalla's city building had me howling for quite a while and Odyssey was genuine enjoyable to 100%. People look at modern AC as "generic barebone RPG slop", yet they're the root of that entire movement. Hogwarts literally 1:1 copied modern AC down to how you used abilities and unlocked additional plates to cycle more abilities. Transmog and salvaging, it's not even funny how one-to-one it is. God of Interactive Cutscenes copied a lot from it also.

Anyway, 5 mins into Mirage and my decades worth of justified xenophobia towards middle-eastern "people" disappears. Why must the culture and aesthetic be so kino goated maxx when they're such vermin in real life? The Fremen were cool as fuck too and they were beyond on-the-nose eastern.

I can hear the jungle japes and ooga boogas from that picture, holy shit
How could white people do this to that poor Asian American? #StopAsianHate!
What do you guys think? Agree? Disagree?
First two were alright, third was mediocre, fourth is the only good one. Everything else is slop, getting worse and worse as the time went on. I can't wait to see this franchise croak and Ubisoft panicking that they lost their golden goose.
The only thing to take away from AssCreed is that we really need a proper open world American Revolution action adventure game and we definitely need more pirate games. GOOD pirate games, not whatever AAAA sewage Skulls and Bones was.

Someone noticed that AC shadows no longer has any pricing listed on the Ubisoft store on PC. I went to go check and that is true. Only standard edition is listed with no price as well as more expensive versions being absent. I'm not sure if this is true for consoles still. I tried searching for it on the playstation store on their website and it seems to be absent completely.

Ubisoft could be re-evaluating how they sell their games now.

They gave out the details during a discord Q&A (yes, they are such colossal fags that they do a press release on discord).

Managed to find more details on the subreddit:
TLDR: No more early access and season pass is cancelled. The collector's edition will include additional physical and digital content for $230/€240
Hi! We wanted to provide an update on the Collector's Edition for Assassin’s Creed Shadows through the following Q&A.
Q: Is the ACSH Collector’s Edition still planned for release?
A: Yes, the ACSH Collector’s Edition will be available on the official release date, February 14, 2025.*
Q: Will I still get the 3 days of early access as advertised?
A: No, there is no early access for AC Shadows anymore. The ACSH Collector’s Edition will now be released on February 14, 2025, alongside the main game.
Q: Has there been any changes to the content of the Collector's Edition?
A: The content will mostly remain as initially advertised, though some design elements may change. The ACSH Collector’s Edition will include the following physical items:
  • Naoe and Yasuke dual character statue (approx. 40 cm / 15.7 inches).
  • Unique SteelBook case.
  • Collector’s art book (76 pages).
  • Naoe’s katana tsuba (life-sized).
  • World map.

Q: Will the recommended retail price (RRP) of the ACSH Collector’s Edition be adjusted due to the removal of the Season Pass?
A: Yes, the RRP will be updated as follows.
Console: $229.99 / 239.99€
PC: 229.99€/$
Please be aware that the price may vary depending on the retailer.
For any question regarding your current preorder; including upgrades, cancellations, refunds or shipment, it is recommended that you check with your local retailer.

Guess they're really desperate to not have people look at the shitty game when streamers play it during early access and then decide "nah, I won't buy it at release". They are also dropping the season pass because they probably don't want to be forced to keep producing garbage content for this garbage game like how Suicide Squad had to fulfill its obligations for multiple seasons of content. Throw in the employees going on strike because they want to keep WFH and not show up 3 days a week and this is just a shitshow. Meanwhile AC Mirage earlier this week to a peak of only 7.8k concurrent players despite being 50% off for $25.

There is something special about being so hated by everyone universally after this debacle, and yet still choosing to sniff their own farts over on groomcord. This didn't make them look any better, if anything this is just admission of defeat.
I hope Japanese players meme this shit to death when it comes out, shame they're so autistically anti-piracy otherwise they could make this even worse.
