Assassin's Creed thread

Assassin's Creed would have been much better if it threw away every sci fi aspect of the story and just make historical. The whole DNA ancestor shit is just exceptional.
100% agree. I don't even care about the Templar and Assassin shit, they should just make it a historical fiction series. Black Flag was the last one I played and although it was a great game its biggest flaw was that it was an Assassin's Creed game.

I actually like the Sci-fi, ancestral memory storyline in theory. The main problem is that nobody else does, so they've almost completely taken it out of the games, but not completely. As it stands, they'd be better off stripping it out entirely, and not having like 30 minutes per game dedicated to a plot line they've otherwise forgotten.

I liked the sci-fi and desmond meta-plot, I liked the assassins and templars historical revision garbage. I didn't like that they were the same game.

If they'd landed it better with Desmond as an actual modern assassin somehow, it might have been interesting. But the continued unnamed Animus user, or whoever she was in Origins, only served to pull me out of the action I actually cared about.

I think the only modern segments I actually enjoyed were Desmond taking the back way into Monterrigioni or the modern Colosseum part from Brotherhood.

im only playing odyssey because im one of those people who were chosen for the project stream thing and i get to play it in the browser without downloading shit and i get to play it on it's best settings and it's great. granted, my internet keeps shitting on me now and then but im enjoying playing it

As far as I'm concerned your video game isn't worth playing if it involves sitting through a fucking company orientation in real time.

Was there anyone out there even asking for a Remaster of AC3? AC2 and Brotherhood I can understand as those were fun games... Revelations maybe if only just to complete the trilogy.

I remember playing through this game when it first came out, and it only felt like an obligation to do so. Sure, let's remove all the buildings and replace that with giant open areas filled with gank wolves. Instead of building our own little pack of trained assassins, let's play Homestead and learn the importance of trade and pig wrangling.

Don´t forget to upgrade the boat you will never use.
It was the most godawful ac to date. The story was boring and poorly paced. Most of the mission structure makes sure you can get trough with little to no skill. Its almost just trial and error. Connor is the most bland boring protagonist in a video game ever. As if that wasn´t enough the combat is a slog, with slow animations (cool looking tough). When you compare it too acb were you were a demigood but atleast combat was fast. There was never any reason to buy new gear as the tomahawk (which you start with) was the best weapon in the game.
Yet some morons on reddit disagree

"oh the reason connor is boring is beacause hes an introvert and if you don´t understand that he comes from a diffrent culture you are an idiot"
Why would that stop ubisoft from making an intressting and funny character?
"But he has survived his tribe burning down, thats why he can be so gloom"
Agian why would this setting exuse shitty writing?

Ac3 was a game for "skyrim people" people who want a massive amount of content at the depth of a puddle. The map was huge, but almost empty. There is nothing wrong with this execpt if you fall for the windowdressing.

Its like after acb all the people who could write funny dialog left ubi.

"connor should have got a sequel!"

Assassin's Creed 3 was definitely a misfire because the series didn't work in a colonial setting. The first two games were set in big, dense, and old cities, that's why the sparse early America setting didn't work.

Assassin's Creed games are fun because of the running and climbing so if you make a running and climbing game with nowhere to run and climb it's going to create a problem.

Then again, an assassin's creed game set in America could really interesting and maybe the remake is being treated as a do-over to make the game they really wanted to.

All I know is I've played this shitty series since the beginning, through its decent games and absolutely horrid games, and all this journo shilling about Odyssey being the best in the series killed me inside.

Ashraf Ismail is the only decent schmuck working on this shitshow series.

It also didn't help that she was written as a Mary Sue. Not only she designed and built her own Animus machine but it can handle more than one DNA sample.

I liked the Ezio trilogy, Black Flag and Rogue.

The first one was ok.
III was a let down except for the Haytham Conway and the naval missions, the rest was just bland.
Unity had its moments, but felt like they were overreaching with all the "features"
Syndicate I just stopped playing altogether after the first few missions.

Haven't played any of the newest games or the Chronicle titles, though I've heard good things about Odyssey.

Despised the modern era plotline/missions.
