There's a big difference between

You can't discuss politics in this thread

And you can't discuss politics in this forum at all

Let's take a game like I don't know Whyfoo shooter 2019 super deluxe edition.

If you want to talk about which gun is your favorite but can't because every time you try there are a bajillion polisperg posts about censorship it really sucks.

There's nothing wrong with either kind of post but they really don't play well together.

If the community surrounding a game is worth laughing at in its own right, then it belongs in Community Watch - case in point the Warframe and Smash Brothers threads. That leaves the Games threads clear for people to discuss the actual game. There's definitely two kinds of threads in the Games forum, those for people playing the games and those for discussing the drama/politics around games. I haven't noticed any threads for one kind of discussion get ruined by those of the other but then I haven't read every thread.

IMO, if there are threads like that, split them into two, and move drama threads to Community Watch if they have the legs to sustain themselves there. I think that's less heavy-handed and easier than trying to police what people say in the entire subforum.

The problem is when someone makes a general discussion about topic (X), whether it'd be a videogame or a certain videogame store, videogame developer, you name it, and it just immediately turns into a shitshow of a-loggery and retardation of people throwing around painfully unfunny insults to everyone that likes those things and just wants to talk about it, or even discuss in a civil way. The problem here are the types that try to become authoritarian assholes and demand the subject stay on "le ethics in videogame journalism" even though everyone else just wants to discuss how much they like/dislike the new game or whatever it might be.

Do the mods not respond to the OP of a thread reporting people being off topic? Or do the mods just stay out of there entirely? Seems like the basic forum rules already cover that, don't they?

I'm just confused what the proposal is. Ban political discussion related to games in the threads about the games?
Said it in another thread, but I don't see any problems in the game forum, and again in this thread I'm not seeing any receipts of abhorrent behavior or posting culture clash. Posting this from a Missouri proxy, the "SHOW ME" state. Show me what the big deal is instead of all these hypothetical "what-ifs!"

EDIT: read "posting culture clash" as "a clash in the posting culture [of Games]," not as an absence of culture clash in gaming in general. #RISE UP, YOU FUCKS

Alright, so we've got 53 threads on the front page of Games, and Games has 36 pages. There are 10 Off-Topic boards, and Games is the third most popular in total threads created & total posts made. Only 4 of the threads break into triple digit pages(Pokemon, Tabletop general, unpopular opinions & WH40K). It currently takes 3 days of inactivity for a thread to get naturally pushed off the front page into page 2 purgatory & beyond. None of this is positive or negative, just raw data to build opinions off of.

Of the 12 threads you listed, only the first 3 are on the front page; Total War ban lewd mods, Sony censoring japs, and Anita Megathread. The Total War thread was started by @CaesarCzech , whom @Null publicly hates so it's no surprise it was off to a bad start, but it was game-focused regarding mod communities. Sony censorship made it to 21 pages and was a much more civil thread, but you nipped both in the bud. Finally, Anita megathread should need no explanation, she's as contentious a figure in gaming as Jack Thompson was, and her thread must exist as a lolcow(and containment).

The other nine have appropriately slid into disuse without other developments. I know the Riot thread originally started in A&H, was bumped a few times as Riot continued to "act a fool" and eventually got moved to Games. Now you're mad it was in Games, and you would have liked it somewhere else? All discussion was self-contained & if you wanted to see MOBA discussion like the actual meta, this thread's existence wasn't impeding or ruining that.

Long story short, as someone who pops into Games on and off, I don't feel like there's any real problem with "suffocation" and "SJW complaining" choking out normal game discussion. The two co-exist fairly peacefully, moreso than any other site on the web & the legitimate game discussions far outnumber the individual "KiA style" political/culture stories. People go in them and comment if they care, ignore them if they don't, and normal game discussion isn't ruined in normal threads(except maybe Pokemon, but it's an autism magnet anyways). I don't think there's any overall board disruption & you're looking like a bored traffic cop itching for any excuse to write tickets.

OHHH now I get it.

Butthurt lefty mod. Makes sense.
I would nuke the same threads if they were about "evil alt-right games" but we don't get those, do we?

The problem is that the Games subforum is not KiA. It exists to discuss videogames, if you wanna discuss political bias and propaganda why not do so at KiA and not Kiwi Farms? I am fine with it being contained to A&H because news are very political and I would be fine with a GamerGate sub-board on Internet Famous because it's also kept separate from videogame discussion (I think it's a bad idea to have that board tho, but that's not up for me to decide so I am not gonna get into it.)

Trust me, I do not plan to "censor" that kind of discussion, if I was, I would just delete all of those threads and get called a faggot by multiple people on the board. I do not plan to drop the game drama general thread either and I would prefer to see it prosper (in fact, I am indexing all the news in that thread into the OP for better viewing so that people can check for new development as suggested by one of the users, so don't think your feedback falls on deaf ears.) tl;dr I disagree on keeping that kind of discussion mixed in the threads and I really do think the board will benefit from separation once the users get used to it.

Im gonna try to be the sane one for moment. Why the hell dont you create subforum withing subforum then for this kind of stuff ? And remove this stuff if it isnt in that subforum ?

because I can't create subforums? lol, I am just a supervisor. I can only control what is currently happening on the board.

If it's applicable to the game and has anything to do with the game, the people who made the game or some news about the game then it belongs in the thread whether it hurts your feels or not. This is a website about weirdos and drama. There are weirdos and drama in the gaming industry and thus it gets discussed. What this really sounds like is you personally shouldn't be moderating anything there because it seems like you aren't being politically/morally impartial to the drama in the general spirit of the website. Get rekt.
