It doesn't matter and makes no sense. Ymir was in love with a sadistic pedophile rapist and in the end is completely inconsequential.
Oh it really doesn't matter, but I think it is hilarious to point out.

After the Basement.
After the Path's Flashback to Ymir and her origin.
After all of this stupid Austism

Iyasama has still doesn't have an actual answer to the biggest question the series asked "Where did the Titans come from? How did we actually get here?" it just amuses me just because this entire series was built off the Mystery Box bullshit and with the extra bit of the leaks nothing turns out to actually be answered.

I thought the where from and how did we get here was in the basement: Marley turned the Eldians and political prisoners into Titans and chucked them onto Paradis.

Yeah but Marley hates Eldians because of the Titans.

How do the Titans exist? Before this final extra bit.."Ymir fell in a hole and found a plant that mutated her." Okay..I still have a few questions but..if magic Titan Plant is where we got this shit okay then.

But now we know that the Titan Powers will infect plant life and if a human eats it they get Titan Powers..so now we don't have the original source again because the Plant Ymir Ate came from the previous Titan.

Perhaps, in a way, this dumpster fire is beautiful. Maybe this was, "that sight," Eren saw.

It seems like there is a decent possibility that the ending was changed. When do you think the story started changing, if that's the case? I think there is a chance it was changed after chapter 130, since it wouldn't make sense for Eren to lie to Historia about the genocide plan only to keep her quiet about it, and that was also the chapter that introduced the possibility of Eren having a child, which went nowhere. Of course with how things ended up, I can't really be certain about what happened to the story and when.

Also, it might be fun if we still imagine the Eldians turned into birds after they died, and it turned into a situation resembling The Birds or Birdemic.

Everything changed when there was a timeskip and the story dropped into a war with modern (by AOT standards) guns.

Well, yes things changed, but I think there is a chance that at some point the plan for the story or ending changed. Does anyone have any thoughts of when that might have happened?

The timeskip was where everything really went to hell in the story for me. It just kept getting worse and worse. To where I stopped reading and just waited for it to be mostly finished before I started again.

The only thing I can conclude is Isayama does not care at all about this manga or characters anymore. I doubt he has really cared all that much about either since the timeskip.

This is especially apparent if you read something like One Piece. Never once while reading that did I ever have the feeling Oda stopped caring. Hell, If anything it feels like Oda is having more fun writing One Piece now than ever.

Have fun with your Onsen Isayama. Glad you could rise from it to shit on the fanbase once more.

You know, I think my favorite thing about my thread is all the fun subtitles I get to make for it.

  1. >TFW WHEN THE ENTIRE WORLD WANTS TO GENOCIDE YOUR RACE BECAUSE OF SOME PIGS
  2. >TFW YOU MAKE OUT WITH YOUR DEAD BROTHER'S SEVERED HEAD
  3. >TFW YOU KILL YOUR OWN MOM JUST SO YOU COULD FUCK YOUR ADOPTIVE SISTER
  4. >TFW DESTROYING YOUR OWN SERIES ONCE JUST ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH AND YOU MAKE A PSA COMIC TELLING PEOPLE WHO WERE INVESTED IN IT TO FUCK OFF (#NO REFUNDS)
:story:

Edit: Didn't include the baseball one because that one wasn't mine. Some mod edited that one in.

Honestly, all I can think of in terms of things changing was when it shifted to the idea of Paradis vs The World. Titans became an afterthought if you ask me.

I get what you mean about One Piece, even if I feel like it moves at a snail’s pace and doesn’t feel like there’s no forward momentum most of the time because of all the mystery boxes and future setups Oda has even after this big arc.

I’m not sure about Isayama just mailing things in after the basement, but I really don’t know what the Japanese readers (the only real people shonen mangaka care about) think about what happened after the timeskip, but I really like to think that people came for the Titans.

Literally the only justification someone can give for as to why they still like this series is the journey up until a certain point. There's literally no fucking way to justify this ending, especially now, cause Isayama has now literally said to everyone "fuck you nothing mattered". He objectively, not subjectively; OBJECTIVELY invalidated everything. You objectively cannot argue that this all led to something, because it objectively DIDN'T.

I mean, you got everything up until the basement. And most of that was just your typical “do anything to survive” scenario. Release it in the west and you could make an argument that AOT was just a Walking Dead ripoff.

I quit reading when they had some long drawn-out battle with the ape titan over multiple issues, and then revealed that he had actually been inexplicably turned into a double agent at some point during the timeskip and everything you just read was utterly pointless.

I have no idea how the timeskip managed to completely fuck everything. I mean, the ending was practically gift wrapped: find and oust the people responsible for the Titan program. But no, we had to see a genocide because “both sides have bad and everyone’s the hero of their own story”.

The soundtrack was enjoyable enough

I get the idea, but the execution was flawed because of a lack of time. Basically Zeke was always working on his own goal to euthanize the eldians to bring peace. He had always been keeping this a secret from both his superiors and his subordinates.
It gets even more convoluted as the reader is lead to believe that Eren is working together with Zeke towards this goal. So Marlay and the Warriors thinks Zeke is working for them to help bring down Paradis. Paradis thinks Zeke is a double agent helping them beat Marlay. Zeke and his followers thinks Eren is onboard with the Euthanasia plan which was always Zeke's goal. Only Eren and Floch know that the actual goal is to begin the rumbling in full.
So again, I don't hate the concept, but this is definitely not something you just dump on the readers immediately as you skip 4 years and begin on a different continent with a different set of characters, and there's also the question of why Eren only trusted Floch with the actual plan. Like surely he could have convinced some of his old friends or something?

They wouldn't have even had to jettison that much of the Marley stuff or the weird racism stuff to do it, either. Just say: the island is a sort of Titan farm, set up by Marley because whatever mad science created the Titans works best on people of Eren's race. People like Eren turn into super-titans under certain conditions because they have the right gene or mutation or whatever, and the whole point of the island is to create a self-sustaining environment where super-titans form on a regular basis but neither the humans nor the Titans ever wipe each other out completely.
Then the super-titans get taken away by Marley to be used as living weapons in Fantasy World War 2. The previous island royal family was in on this and let it happen because they get to be wealthy royalty, and because everyone is a jerk.

Then Eren and his friends find out about the whole thing and it's time to go bust some heads and set things right.
Keeping with the "everyone is a jerk" theme, you could even add another twist and have Marley actually be the "good guys" in the outside world, because everyone else is even worse. Maybe the other countries have their own titan programs too but they're tentacle monsters and Cthulhu beings rather than humanoids. Then you could get some giant monster fights, the real badass humans going up against the monsters solo, and so on.

It gets even more convoluted as the reader is lead to believe that Eren is working together with Zeke towards this goal. So........
What I'm hearing is I picked a pretty good time to nope out of there.
