Take this with a grain of salt, but apparently everyone in the anime industry knew what a complete disaster AoT was becoming, and so the original studio who was making it sold it to MAPPA, a studio infamous for its shitty quality, and abhorrent work practices.

As AoT became a bigger, and bigger shitshow, less and less studios wanted anything to do with it, and which is why, along with MAPPA's low-funding, they can't find people to help them animate it. According to the rumor, the only studio that would be willing to help was the only one worse to them, and that's the one who made Berserk 2016.

It's still to early to tell, but considering how shoddy some of the scenes in the trailer look, I'm thinking that might actually be the case.

The issue from what I've heard is how Attack on Titan is a very complicated show to animate since from we saw of how WIT animated it, there were so many people they had work on episodes including ones with barely any action. It didn't help with the source material being hard to animate with how they had to animate horses along with titans being quite hard. It gets worse since Isayama or the Producers had very strict deadlines for when they want shit out (which is why the final season is rushed). I say Isayama here since he has a lot of heavy involvement with the anime compared to most mangaka who usually take a backseat and just request some changes here and there. After all Isayama considers the anime to be the definitive experience for Attack on Titan.

The complications with what to animate is what turned off many studios along with the deadlines since they didn't want to risk animator's health with how large scale many things are in those arcs. MAPPA however only picked it up as the reason you have said which is how they treat their workers (which makes other animation studios treatment of workers look kind) along with the fact Attack on Titan is a major IP that would make them money.

@Doctor of Autism it seems everyone forgotten the lessons learned from the production shitshow of the 90ies Key: the Metal Idol when nobody tard wrangled the creator who was heavily involved in it.
 
Rather interesting that we’ll have to wait for the second half of the final season on January 9th of next year, What could they possibly come up with that could be any better than the first half?

If I recall, it was the beginning of this year and last year where Mushoku Tensei was the more controversial anime, whereas the first half of AoT seemed tame in comparison.

I mean the final season in general is adapting the worst parts of Attack on Titan but it's going to cause so much breakdowns next year if they stick to the ending

Are they changing things? I would assume they're just going to adapt it verbatim, maybe trimming some scenes for the sake of budget. There's a lot of wild shit that they could have a lot of fun animating. For all the criticisms I'd level at the series, lack of interesting visuals isn't one of them.

And, really, the absolute salt mine that's going to open up if they adapt the ending faithfully is going to be a spectacle in and of itself.

To be fair, the Eva franchise has a reputation for being divisive and avant-garde(or outright pretentious to the less charitable), so it was somewhat inoculated against the inevitable divisiveness of its ending. AoT, on the other hand, sold itself as relatively conventional until its jarring tonal shift to pseudo-WWII geopolitics with a side of ancient prophecy and fucking time travel in its latter half. And the ending only made things worse, what with the standard ending making the anti-hero protagonist into a thirsty imbecile, and the "amended" ending turning it all into a giant shaggy dog story..

So, the official printed English translation for 139 has come out, and they somehow made Eren's meltdown even more whiny and incel-y.

He no longer says "rest of HIS life". He now says "rest of HER life" and that "I WANT HER TO BE HUNG UP ON ME FOR A WHILE!".

My whole new headcanon is that everyone was “forgiving” to Eren is that he’s too pathetic to even hate given he probably said the same shit to everyone else in PATHS. Though Mikasa decided to fuck Jean to spite Eren and brings him to Eren’s grave to show the superiority of horsecock

My new headcanon is that Jean is somehow also the Farmer, and that Armin's whole "Thank you for becoming a mass-murderer for our sake." was him just being sarcastic.

Also, that Carla's ghost is just standing next to him looking so disgusted, and disappointed.
