Forgot to add this, but one thing to know to fully understand the weird direction of the story is to know one of the inspiration for Isayama, Ace Combat. Mikasa's design is similar to Kei Nagase, Historia's name is taken straight out of ita most famous ost, and Genocide Eren is like the AC's meme of "mute war criminal" taken seriously. Its like instead of using Ace Combat's anti-war message as inspiration, Isayama took from the series that "war crime is cool" instead

I'm surprised you pointed that out, since Isayama is an AC fanboy. Funny enough, for a guy who is all about "muh moral ambiguity", AoT does not even capture the nuance of Ace Combat's setting were even at its most "black-and-white", antagonists are either reluctant, misguided, honorable, or simply just not villainous (barring ofc Captain Mathias "SALVATION" Torres). While both AoT and AC features protagonists who do unsavory things, most of the actual war crimes in the games can be avoided outside of that Kessler Syndrome segment of the 7th game.

Even then, none of the protagonists ever become pathetic withdrawals of their power fantasy and most of the antagonists aren't cartoonish caricatures of evil straight out of a World War propaganda poster. Isayama just sucks at homages.

He probably sucks at plane game anyways.

Yeah the moral ambiguity is really shit that he tried to convey. Like most of Attack on Titan's antagonists are stupidly evil whose priorities were really dumb.

AOT got big during a zombie craze and tried to make things about more than the people killing zombies. I guess it didn't work.
Wasn't that one reason why the zombie craze fell apart? Like the Walking Dead trying to be more than just yeeting zombies? That ended up becoming a dead-end soap opera!

Basically, yes. What happed with TWD is that they kept on relying on the same stupid "teh humanz r teh real monsterz" shit, and it got really old really fast. It was no longer a zombie show, but rather about Rick's boring, braindead, edgy group vs the most stupidly over-the-top evil, edgy people imaginable. The zombies took a backseat when they weren't being used a convenient way to kill people.

Couple that with them just killing off characters for the sake of shock value, characters just being mind-blowingly retarded (million walker march anyone?), the world-building just starting to completely fall apart, and the nonstop constant screen-hogging of Negan, and the show's absolute refusal to get rid of him despite the fact views were tanking because of him, and it's easy to see why no one watches this shit anymore.

And yet, it's still somehow going.

So TWD went the route that The Last of Us Part II did, but the show somehow is still going? At least a TLOU3 won't be a thing any time soon, I hope.

Will Isayama get an Anno-style redemption arc? Or does just want to watch it all burn and dance in the ashes?
I don't think he would. Despite popular belief, Anni made Evangelion out of love, not hatred. He's just depressed since people only know him because of it, and the massive expectation people put on him (also because Gainax became a zombie company that profits from his and his colleagues works). The last EVA movie is his goodbye to the work since now Anno have become bigger than Evangelion

Isayama though....I don't think he has the right heart and intention when he wrote AoT, and especially on how he ended it. If you look at his interviews, its pretty much born out of his frustation of not being accepted by other people as a manga artist

Not to mention Anno has moved onto other things he is well known for like Shin Godzilla, Isayama probably will just stay to Attack on Titan lest he decides to make some new manga

Honest question. Is Eren genuinely autistic? I mean, he has to be, right? Or, did he make himself autistic through "pAtHs"? His behavioral patterns can't be a coincidence.

Lol. I thought Negan was "super popular".

The way fans kept talking about him under YouTube comment sections, :story: you'd think he was God's gift to humanity.

The novelty has worn off. People have moved on. Seriously, how long has it been?

Anno did haves a pretty decent filmography completely separate from Evangelion. Which prevent him from being completely defined by one property.
He's also a skilled animator who did a lot of work in that area before and after Eva, something completely divorced from however you feel about his writing and directing. Isayama doesn't really have anything else.

I know this is unrelated, but this is too funny not to share. You know Nausicaa? Anno animated the scene where the God Warriors are awakened. And according to his co-workers and friends, Anno used to flirt with girls saying he animated that scene, and it seemd to work according to them

I think, especially among Western anime fans, Anno gets mischaracterized a lot due to two main reasons:

1. Poorly translated or out of context interview snippets

2. The recent cultural relevance of “muh subverted expectations” camp in Hollywood, which you could easily mistake Anno for falling under if all you know about him comes from said poorly translated or out of context interview snippets.

I really don’t think Evangelion was made to “subvert expectations” of mecha, not when literally the most popular mecha franchise (Gundam) is literally about “lol war sucks and piloting giant robots ain’t all it’s cracked up to be”.

[Eren inhales] Hello, all other males around the world. This is Eren Yeager – your Founding Titan – in Shiganshina District.

Now, listen here, and listen good. I have told you all. I've kept it going TIME AND TIME AGAIN, but you y'all keep putting it on and putting it on.

But... Mikasa Ackerman IS. MINE. Mikasa, needs – to– think– only– about-me! Even if I die, she needs to for 10 years at least!

Now... [Eren is ready to commit genocide] This is, the last, straw! Because for the GOOD, and SAFETY, of this timeline, you need to get your dicks AWAY FROM MIKASA AND WHEREVER ELSE ALL THE DANG FAR AWAY,

AND NEVER DATE MIKASA! MAKE SURE SHE NEVER DATES ANOTHER MALE AND NEVER, EVER THINK ABOUT ABOUT OTHER MALES AGAIN, AND SHE SHOULD MAKE HER OFFICIAL LOVE CONFESSION PUBLIC TELL EVERYBODY!

I am telling you this to warning you:

IF-YOU-CONTINUE-ON-AND-YOU-DO-NOT-LISTEN-TO-ME JEANNNNNNN!

And date Mikasa...

[Eren places his hand on his forehead, realizing he mixed up due to PATHs]

I m-mean you do...

YOU DO NOT DATE MIKASA, YOU CAN'T DATE HER! If you date her, you're going to put this ENTIRE TIMELINE in chaos! So, I'M GIVING YOU THIS, WARNING AND TELL YOU TRUE, AND STRAIGHT UP!

[Eren points intently at the camera]

ONLY DATE ME NOW, MIKASA! NOW!

[Eren pauses for a moment before deciding to commit worldly genocide after being family-zoned, leaving us with a haunting image before Eren decides to go through with his plan]

Merry Christmas

It's Levi's birthday today. I have nothing to say about that outside of the fact that practically no one talks about him anymore. It's all about Eren now. Yams probably could've gotten away with killing him off.
No one talks about Levi only because he was one of the few characters whose ending actually appealed to his fans so they're satisfied. Eren is discussed because he's a fucking idiot and his fanbase is fighting each other.
