Whatever the outcome of the anime ending will be, I'm sure it will be a spectacularly hilarious shitstorm either way.

Season 1 was just meh with many of the issues being the way Isayama wanted the anime team to make changes (like the whole stupid one where Eren whines about not turning into a Titan when the final fight happened). But it would’ve been for the better if the anime didn’t get as popular as it did since that made Isayama change the entire story due to its popularityI feel like AoTs popularity was more bandwagoning than anything. It was a pretty boring anime
I've heard that said many a time, but I don't know anything about Gundam. Can you just pick up the movie and watch, or do you have to have already watched however many seasons of the anime first? Also you should all watch Char's Counter Attack
Has that ever happened before in Japanese enterrtainment? But it would’ve been for the better if the anime didn’t get as popular as it did since that made Isayama change the entire story due to its popularity
Ideally you would have seen the original Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta Gundam, ZZ inexplicably has nothing to do with it, but it works fine as a standalone movie too. Char's Counter Attack was actually my introduction to the main UC. If you have a vague idea of who Char and Amuro are it's still very enjoyable and you can figure a lot out through context.I've heard that said many a time, but I don't know anything about Gundam. Wasn’t it fairly common for stories to get derailed by editors demanding the mangaka to continue them past the logical stopping point because they were too financially successful?Has that ever happened before in Japanese enterrtainment?
Yugioh Technically, the first parts of the original story were Monster of the Week with random games. Then Duel Monsters became super popular after it was introduced the story was retooled to focus on it.Has that ever happened before in Japanese enterrtainment?
Dragonball Z and Death Note famously.Wasn’t it fairly common for stories to get derailed by editors demanding the mangaka to continue them past the logical stopping point because they were too financially successful?
If you mean the authors themselves choosing to alter the course of the story due to fan reception, I’m 100% certain that’s happened before, but unless they came out and said it, it would be very difficult to prove.
The best part is that the original Yugioh actually ended where it was supposed to.Yugioh Technically, the first parts of the original story were Monster of the Week with random games. Then Duel Monsters became super popular after it was introduced the story was retooled to focus on it.
(For the better because there is only so much "Random Game Evil Yugi makes up..that the antagonist attempts to cheat and and gets bit in the ass" a series can do)

It also sounds like it was one of the times where selling out was a good thing also. The best part is that the original Yugioh actually ended where it was supposed to.
The Yugioh more commonly known about only came about afterwards because of a fuckton of calls asking if the card game Kaiba and Yugi played was real, and if they could play it.
Kazuki Takahashi, who absolutely fucking loves games and was surprised so many people liked the Magic: The Gathering knock-off he had made, decided to continue the series, and when eventually Konami called him up to try, and make Duel Monsters into a real game, he naturally jumped at the chance, and the rest is history.
He did eventually get tired of writing the series, and left it after 5ds, and he's not exactly happy with how the franchise is now, but considering it all, I think his case is one of the very few continuing a series past its original endpoint was actually a good thing
Wasn’t that what happened to Naruto?Wasn’t it fairly common for stories to get derailed by editors demanding the mangaka to continue them past the logical stopping point because they were too financially successful?

For fan reception? Hrm, I can't really think. I remember a few examples where stories that were going to end or have a sadder ending twist upwards to avoid it when they got popular.Wasn’t it fairly common for stories to get derailed by editors demanding the mangaka to continue them past the logical stopping point because they were too financially successful?

Oh I didn't know that was supposed to be the ending. The best part is that the original Yugioh actually ended where it was supposed to.

I didn’t even read the manga (dropped the anime halfway through season 3) and following the shitshow as the manga was ending was easily one of the most entertaining experiences I’ve had on this here fruit forum.Man, I wish I knew of this thread back when the shitshow that was the ending happened. It was a glorious moment for it proved just how much of a hack Isayama actually was.
Years ago, when I started reading this manga right before the anime started, I immediately felt something off about the story. It was the moment when Eren got put on a trial that I finally realized what it was, the author is a naive person, and someone narcissistic. If you looked at it with that in mind, everything then makes sense, because everything that happened, no matter how stupid and ridiculous it was, to Isayama's mind that was genius. I mean if you looked at the interview with him, you can see why he was rejected over and over again, because he didn't want to admit that his art is shit. He had a very interesting premise, but that itself wasn't something entirely unique, and you see just how good he was at developing it. Someone here was right, AoT wouldn't be as successful if not for the Zombi Craze people had years ago, it's nothing but a fluke.
I can't wait to see the reaction of the Anime-only when the last season dropped, especially the ending. I really hoped they didn't change the ending or made something new just so people can actually see just how bad this series and Isayama actually is.
I don't think anyone ever thought Isayama was the next big thing, let alone a genius like Hirohiko Araki or Eiichiro Oda or Akira Toriyama. He just manged to strike gold with his first big entry into the industry.. It was a glorious moment for it proved just how much of a hack Isayama actually was.
I just remeber Isayama saying that Weekly Shonen Jump wanted him to change the style for their magazine, but Isayama wasn't having that.I mean if you looked at the interview with him, you can see why he was rejected over and over again, because he didn't want to admit that his art is shit.
I wish I was learning of this thread as I was reading it. Maybe I could have seen what people here would have said over the "glory days".Man, I wish I knew of this thread back when the shitshow that was the ending happened.
