Honestly I need to give a quick apology to Isayama. While the racism in AOT is stupid, it's at least a little bit more realistic compared to how racism was handled in a certain other shonen manga. Because after seeing how it was handled there, the racism could've been even more retarded.

Basically the author tried to rip off x-men with mutant (people who have animal features) protests. Basically has so much of the authors own political beliefs in it and lacks any sort of nuance. There was actually a part where a bunch of mutants yelled at the token black superhero that he never understood oppression. It’s literally 3 chapters during the final battle with a moral that’s essentially “hey just be nice little minorities and maybe your oppressor will give you rights” and even does the whole thing where an entire protest stops because of one guys speech. Its even more retarded than what I described

Ah, so Volume 20 is about where the average reader should stop before the story spirals off into insane pseudo-political Game of Thrones garbage sprinkled with the ramblings of an imperial sympathizer, Eren turning into the ultimate incel and basically castrating what was previously a flawed but interesting plot and turning into another trite nihilistic "humans were the real monsters all along" diatribe.

On one hand, it's a pity the story doesn't really come to a conclusion going that route, but on the other hand Isayama chose to sodomize his own creation and become a national laughingstock. Plenty of AoT fans would much rather forget everything beginning with Chapter 84 (even though I have no idea what that chapter did) ever happened, and I can't blame them.

Honestly, Secret Asshole's ideas for where the plot could have gone would've been awesome to see play out. It's a damn shame that everything fell apart so close to the end...

Chapter 84 is pretty much the Serumbowl which brings a character back to life who should’ve reasonably died. After that is the basement reveal which begins the WWII comparisons

As utterly terrible as the ending is you might as well just plow through until you finish. Ask yourself this. Did you finish Game of Thrones? Half of the fun of Game of Thrones is talking about the poor ending and abysmal writing. You might as well finish Attack on Titan just so you can be part of its collapse and ruin and understand the criticism.

Why did the King see his slave wife's corpse and then decide a normal thing to do would be to command her children to eat it? And unless my memory is wrong, Ymir died on the floor and her kids were eating her remains on a table, so the King ordered someone to pick up his dead wife's carcass, possibly cut it into more manageable chunks (either that or waited till it decomposed enough for the kids to be able to tear flesh off by hand), and put it on the table for his kids to devour.

It's so bizarre reading it and then realizing Isayama expects you to just go "oh of course, incestuous cannibalism of raw human flesh, as medieval tyrants tend to do".

And then somehow eating her flesh translates to spinal fluid being necessary to give her descendants the powers that her kids had naturally?

I read the series after quitting around the time where the coup happened (I didn't give a shit about it and it basically just became the King and aristocracy were Wardens of the people in the walls. I did not give a shit about Levi, Erwin, and Kenny.). Honestly, I was even fine with the MPs and aristocracy caring more about their own lives being comfy than humanity as a whole, the bit where Pixis basically says that no enemy will ever truly unite humanity because an extended war will burn people out and a system will come into place to feed some to the grinder.

The only characters I actually cared for were Jean, Rainer (by extension Gabi, too), and Pixis. Eren never really was that strong of a character and I would've actually liked him to kill himself out of rebellion at some point. To deny anyone victory rather go full Genocide. I never understood why Isayama went with Doomsday War.
The story was setting up Marley as reaching it's breaking point, either by Civil War or foreigners getting sick of their expansionist policy. He could of done a lower stakes War with Zeke leading a faction under the guise of getting resources and trying to basically genocide his own people. While Rainer and Pieck try to sue for peace while other countries try to make peace deals to get access to Paradis resources.

The entire thing with the Tybur family was basically just a regime change happened with the old king. The current Marley empire was the old one, except the elites ousted their enemies and did a name change. The whole Warrior thing was basically a humiliation rituals by the Tyburs because there supposedly other clans that would pass on the 9 Titans. It bugged me that no country tried to undermine Marley by stating that even if they didn't believe the official narrative.

The Ymir shit is whatever. It's kind of neat, but I found the memory/ Paths shit boring. It's a narrative device I've seen in like 30 manga and it never works. It just feels cheap because we can't see characters have their own biases cloud history. I did like Zeke thinking Eren was brainwashed, I'd rather see Zeke have an autistic breakdown if Eren/ Mikasa/ Armin/ Shadis all basically say he was a nice doctor who tried to keep the peace between people. Him getting buck broken by literally seeing memories isn't the same, he really can't deny reality then.

I just wanted to air my grief after reading it. Also, I read the series knowing that Jean cucks Eren. Makes it fucking hilarious, bird Eren has to watch Jean's Hapa great grandson visit his grave.
