It was fun and unique, but also dark, and compelling. There was a great sense of danger back when anyone could die, and you felt the fear, but you also felt the hope that things would work out. You liked these characters and wanted them to succeed and to live.

At this point, though, you just want Eren to kill them all because that seems like the only option that wouldn't be a fucking cop-out and would still be original.

There's no more fun, there's no more hope, there's nothing compelling, or unique about it anymore. All the characters have faded into the background, except for Eren who's lost everything that made him interesting and has just become a genocidal version Levi. There's nothing good about it left. It's an edgy, pretentious, racist, retarded revengefic now.

I guess he does understand fun, since he wants to hurt his audience. Except his audience basically wants Eren to kill everything right now, so he's failed completely. I guess he's like Druckman, having his work fail completely at what it was trying to do. At least with Isyama he had a good first third. Druckman had a good whole lot of nothing.

Anime onlys are going to have a fucking GREAT time when season 4 drops.

Yeah, there really was. I liked that aspect to it. Which is why I like more AoT ripoffs coming out because they're guaranteed to at least attempt the first half and ignore the political garbage which no one likes.

Its kind of hysterical right now, because there's NO indication of ANYONE having a plan to deal with Eren at all other than to try and talk him out of it. Like, that's about it. Like you've completely fucked up, isolated him emotionally and your plan is to talk to him. Yeah, right. There's still no indication that there's anything that can stop him. Which I find funny. Even in hopeless scenarios at the end of a story, there's at least SOMETHING protagonists have up their sleeve. In AoT, its the power of freindship. Which is fucking hilarious, considering how trash they've been to Eren for years. They've got absolutely NOTHING to deal with him.

And yup, the only thing fun about AoT now is making fun of it. The only character is Eren, who is out to summon Khorne through sheer murder. God, its so fucking awful.

Even in hopeless scenarios at the end of a story, there's at least SOMETHING protagonists have up their sleeve. In AoT, its the power of friendship. Which is fucking hilarious, considering how trash they've been to Eren for years.

In a series that solved literally 99% of its problems with stupid, nonsensical violence, and death threats, the only option they have left to stop a genocidal psychopath who was born crazy and with murderous tendencies that they've only encouraged and exasperated by being such sociopathic, shitheads to him, the only thing they can possibly try outside of Historia showing up with her baby, is trying to use to the power of friendship to Talk no Justsu him out of his genocidal conquest.

That's amazing. That's hilarious. It's almost poetic. AoT prided itself on being "realistic" by having its characters use over-the-top violence and threats to solve its problems because those are the only things that work irl (diplomacy? what's that?) now has to use the thing that it was trying to avoid the most. I would say this was done on purpose if the rest of the series wasn't such a convoluted mess.

I hope they just try to fucking hug the evil out of Eren.

It worked when Hange did it with Mikasa. It worked when Eren did with the Ymir and she gave him her god powers. I want Mikasa, and/or Armin to just go up and try to hug the genocidal rage out of him. While he's in his claw-machine form. It doesn't count if it's in the PATHs system or whatever.

Hamura Miura, the actor who portrayed Eren in the live-action movies, was found dead in his apartment of a suspected suicide on July 18th of this year. He was only 30-years-old.

On a different note, Muv-Luv does 'Attack on Titan' better. Multi-verse, aliens that will devour you alive, humanity on the brink and a whole bunch of weird, horrifying shit all thrown together. It is basically mecha, but so is AoT with flesh kaiju. Muv-Luv and AoT have a lot of shit in common, especially Alternative. It keeps its horrifying elements and while there's some 'humans r the tru monstarz' shit, it is nowhere near as bad. There's also some political elements, but its kind of interesting and they're secondary to 'Aliens are eating people'.

Its mainly a VN series and a manga. The anime adaptions are kind of a strange beast because none of them actually adapt the main story, just two side stories. And both of them are seriously In Media Res so you have to tolerate being confused as shit for about an episode or so. Allegedly, the main story is finally being adapted, but it was just an announcement, not anything concrete. And Muv-Luv Alternative is said to be one of the best VNs of all time, so I'm not just talking out of my ass.

I mean you think 'oh teen girls piloting mecha against aliens, typical weeb story' Except you watch all of your friends die, and you have to witness aliens ripping apart and eating your friend alive while she begs you to shoot her in the head. And somehow, it manages to be hopeful throughout it.

So I don't know why people are falling all over themselves saying 'AoT does it all! TIME LOOP MULTIVERSE ISAYAMA IS A GENIUS' when you have Muv-Luv doing this type of shit for years and years. Oh, and there's romance too. Which AoT, I think we should say thankfully at this point, has none of. I can't even imagine the autistic goddamn shit Isayama would come up with if we had to sit through that.

I think I remember him saying forever ago that Muv Luv was where Attack on Titan's concept comes from and his general way of doing manga comes from Project ARMS, and it really shows. I actually read ARMS, it's not revolutionary or anything but it's a competent and well drawn sci-fi battle series. it's not really a similar story, but while reading it I could definitely see how he was inspired by it.




I wanna read Muv Luv but VNs are usually a hassle to get running. if there's a proper adaption coming I might just wait for that.

I think I remember him saying forever ago that Muv Luv was where Attack on Titan's concept comes from and his general way of doing manga comes from Project ARMS, and it really shows. I actually read ARMS, it's not revolutionary or anything but it's a competent and well drawn sci-fi battle series. it's not really a similar story, but while reading it I could definitely see how he was inspired by it.

However, these are with the sex scenes removed, since I believe they're from a time when Steam didn't allow sexual content at all. Now Steam sells basically full eroges. For Muv-Luv, you'll have to hunt down the patches for them if you want them uncensored. I don't think they had a lot to begin with anyway. But who knows with Steam censorship. Its a bit pricey at $80, but all 3 are like 20-50 hours. Muv-Luv itself is a combo: Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimitied. Then you have Muv-Luv Alternative. You just play them in order. Extra, Unlimited and Alternative. Photonflowers I believe are side stories (there are a LOT of side stories to Muv-Luv). Alternative itself is getting a proper sequel this year/next year called Integrate which will, as the title says, integrate all the Alternative side stories (of which there are a fuck ton).

There's a rumor from late last year that Muv-Luv Alternative (the bleakest and by far darkest of the three) is getting an anime adaption. But nothing concrete as of yet, so who knows when it will come out.

Its really fucking strange, it goes into this cutesy, kind of corny romance to the protagonist transported to alternate dimensions/history and uh...yeah. Its why they say Muv-Luv Alternative is PTSD inducing.

Its weird and interesting but its really severe whiplash and not for everyone.

maybe the highschool romcom sold well enough that he was told to make a sequel and given much more freedom. so he repurposed a different larger scale idea he had into said sequel, instead of just doing another high school dating sim or trying to get his unrelated dark mecha story greenlit on it's own.

Unrelated to AoT but can confirm ARMs is some good shit. Some of the finest sci-fi fighting shounen shit. Only problems I have with it are the characters are kind of stock and it has the "couldn't wrap all of its story elements in the one arc it should've so the proper final arc feels out of place" issue.
